He is on his 3rd and last 10 day contract.
After that the Lakers will have to release him or sign him.
He can be signed to the 15th and final spot the Lakers have and if the Lakers do that, that will not be able to get anyone else later that gets a buyout.
I say the Lakers sign him and don't worry about a future buyout. |
That is correct.
And I’m sure DJ will be shown the door next if another opportunity arises on the buyout market, namely another wing or mobile big. |

Technically speaking, he can sign another 10-dayer via a hardship contract. One of our players would have to test positive for COVID in order for Stan to go that route however.
The NBA moved their hardship deadline to Feb 17, which is one week after the trade deadline.
So if Stanley ain’t re-upped with a rest of season contract to fill that vacant 15th roster spot, it probably has to do with trade flexibility where we would need roster spots to have more incoming bodies than outgoing bodies.
FYI: Stan’s current (& final non-hardship) 10-day expires on Jan 27th. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

CONGRATS STANLEY
Forward Stanley Johnson has agreed to a new two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Johnson’s final 10-day contract expires Wednesday, but his contagious defense, energy and play earn him a guaranteed rest of the year.

HALLELUJAH!
Congrats to the young man!
Now can we please sign ANOTHER defensive forward to help the team out so we aren't one injury or 4 fouls away from playing Ariza and THT at heavy minutes at PF??? PLEASE??? |

If he develops a decent 3-ball, he will make a ton in free agency. Luckily we'll have his early bird rights by then. He knows what he needs to work on this summer. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |
