This experiment was a disaster. Even with a healthy squad, this team did not have the makeup of a team that could have beaten Phoenix, Golden State, or Milwaukee in a WCF let alone championship series. Heck they couldn't even beat New Orleans with a full squad. So it's clear they need to retool and swallow this embarrassing mistake.

LeBron already said he wants to play where Bronny will play, so start making arrangements to get him there.

Trade AD while we can still get something of value for him. It's clear his injury prone issues are never going away.

I agree in theory. I don’t propose trading Lebron and/or AD but looking at life after them. With limited draft picks that isn’t going to be easy but from previous seasons results we should have the scouting prowess to find guys who aren’t well known. Do everything you can to buy some second round picks. Adding young, long athletic players instead of old vets could give us a jump on a post-Lebron future. If Lebron and AD don’t like it, ask them to work out a deal for themselves. Hopefully by the start of the 2024-2025 season we have 5-7 of those guys on the roster on manageable contracts.

I will be glad when Lebron and AD are load managing with another team.

This team has missed the playoffs 7 of the last 10 years, with 2 first round exits and 1 championship. If you move Lebron and AD you can more or less pencil in the team missing the playoffs for most of the next decade as well. You are not going to get a different result with Jeanie in charge.

You can move the chairs on the deck of the Titanic all you want, but the ship is still going to sink. So far two Buss kids have attempted to step in for their dad and besides one fluky success, have otherwise failed miserably. So calls for trading players thinking that is going to solve anything are pointless. The track record speaks for itself. The Lakers will fade into irrelevancy until Jeanie figures out she is depressing the value of her own asset and cashes out while she is ahead. Or, you know, once she doesn't have the shield of blaming Klutch anymore and she has to actually take all the blame and gets sick of being a pariah in her own city.

But sure, trade Lebron and AD and fantasize about an imaginary universe where the Lakers FO are actually competent enough to get good value for them and then not squander said good assets through more idiotic moves.

What an interesting idea. Someone should start a new thread about this.

I actually think Joey and Jesse have been good? They are the ones in scouting. Jeanie on the other hand....

I'm sure she means well I really do. She might even be very business savvy for all I know. 3B sounds like a lot but over 20 years? That's 150M a year. Not a crazy amount of money given an ever increasing payroll and inflation. She is in over her head.
