Their throwing sessions must have gone well today. Still could be a touch and go situation with Treinen, and if his shoulder barks at him the day after a game, let's say, they could remove him from the roster and add a pitcher, though that would rule Treinen out for the NLDS plus a potential NLCS.

Yeah I hear you buddy. But I don’t think it’s a matter of skill. I think it’s a matter of control.

In basketball, you have control over how many times your one superstar touches/controls the ball.

LeBron can shoot it 50x a game if he wants. There’s no socialist rule where LeBron can only shoot 4 times a game, and every other player on the roster must also shoot 4 times a game.

Imagine playing baseball by basketball rules. You can have Trout bat 27x a game.

Well at least Freeman is still trying. Still a tall order to go 3-3 in his last 3 at-bats to win the batting title.

Trea's AB's looking like absolute crap right before the postseason. At least for him, a few days off can't hurt. He looks lost.

Atlanta Braves (+500) - 16.7%

New York Mets (+700) - 12.5%

Seattle Mariners (+2500)

Cleveland Guardians (+2800)

Tampa Bay Rays (+2800)

San Diego Padres (+2800)

We might be the favorites, but we’re only given a 25% chance to win

It bothers me that a team can win 110 games, and lose 3 games to a wild card team and be eliminated.

This will probably sound weird to some, but I wish our team had a much bigger advantage in the Division Series. Make the Mets/Padres have to beat us 4 times, while at the same time we only need to win 3. Or give us 4 or 5 home games in the series instead of a maximum of 3.

I don’t see those happening but maybe the Division Series can go to a best of 7, which helps the better team a little bit more and do reseeding so we gave a chance to face the 6 seed.

I wish they could get rid of divisions because the Cardinals should really be a 4 seed but that won’t happen. This system works better if the leagues have 2 divisions each like we used to see before 1994.

Also in baseball if your best player is a pitcher he usually doesn’t even play. Unless his name is Ohtani.

Seems like every time I see Gallo strike out his at-bat looks terrible. It’s obvious why Yankee fans were so frustrated with him.

Coming into today he had 55 k’s in 114 at-bats for this team. In his defense he also hit 7 home runs. But I cringe when he comes up with any runners in scoring position.

Correct, as long as McNeil doesn't play. But if Freddie does go 4-for-4, my guess is that the Mets would be well aware of that and that they'd send McNeil up as a pinch-hitter late in their game, assuming their game hasn't ended yet. Will be interesting if Freddie gets a hit in his next time up, and let's say the Mets game is closer to ending than ours is. Do they just sit McNeil and leave it up to Freddie?

EDIT: The Mets are in a rain delay and that game hasn't even started yet, so they are, indeed, well behind the Dodger game. So McNeil will know if Freddie has gone 4-for-4. At that point, the Mets would have to get McNeil into the game with enough time for him to get 2 AB's, because if he went 1-for-2, I think that would get him the batting title.

Trea with a much-needed good swing, and the 3-run bomb gets him to 100 RBI.

Damn, Freddie with a deep fly out to CF. That will do it for the batting title. He went into a slump this last week and it cost him.

It’s not every day when you can hit a double, a home run, go 2-3 and be disappointed in your performance. Oh well, it was a great effort.

So close. Freddie 3 for 4 today. Damn.

McNeill can have it. That's all they gonna get this year anyways. LOL

wow. Treinen huh?

We're going to be an injured bunch, that's for sure. Most of the roster is just coming off of injury in the last month it seems:

Kahnle
Taylor
Lux
Gonsolin
May
Treinen
Graterol
Almonte
Price

We're lucky that our position players have been relatively injury free.

Kersh career whip watch:

Total Hits + Balls: 2584

Total IP: 2581

Career Whip: 1.0011.

I'm hoping he comes back just to bring that number under 1.

Current modern leaders in WHIP above Kersh?

Rivera, DeGrom. And Kersh has ~1200 more IP than both of them

Hope the Padres win. I want nothing to do with deGrom and Scherzer in a short series.

Braves and Dodgers set to potentially meet to decide who goes to the series. Good luck until that time folks!

Yeah. But if the mets do win then I hope it goes all 3 games. That way degrom only pitches 1 game and we probably don't see him til game 3 or 4.
