Basketball has fewer upsets in the playoffs so a higher percentage of dominant teams win. The 72 win Bulls, 69 win Bulls and 69 win Lakers come to mind for me (those were the best records after the 73 win Warriors). But I do think it’s interesting that the teams with the best regular season records didn’t win in the NFL, NBA and MLB (although the 72 Dolphins can argue that it was impossible for them to go 16-0 during the season; 14-0 was the best they could do, the Patriots statistically were so dominant though).

There are couple of teams that did well in regular season that won it all.

72 Dolphins
95-96 Chicago Bulls

The 85 Bears too.

The 84 49ers were 15-1 like the Bears and won it all.

This link has a list of best NFL single season records ever and the postseason results. 4 teams were 15-1 and didn’t win it all (it’s actually the last four teams to do it; the first two teams to go 15-1 won it all).

Expected to start Game 1 is right-hander Ryan Pepiot (0-0, 0.00 ERA), who made his own major league debut at Pittsburgh on Wednesday and pitched three scoreless innings despite allowing five walks.

Oh oh, hopefully he doesn’t walk 10 guys today.

Quote:
Dodgers left-hander Tyler Anderson (3-0, 4.40 ERA) is expected to start Game 2. In 14 career appearances (12 starts) against the Diamondbacks, Anderson is 3-3 with a 5.96 ERA.

The Diamondbacks are expected to start left-hander Tyler Gilbert (0-1, 3.91 ERA) in the first game and have right-hander Merrill Kelly (3-1, 1.71) take the second game.

Could be a rough day for us with Pepiot and Anderson going.

Just saw the box score. So far so good I assume.

Mookie is up to an .846 OPS which is barely behind Freeman for best on the team among the regulars.

Yeah there is no way MLB didn’t change the ball up last week. Look at all the homers over the last few days. It’s a launching pad in every park.

What the heck. Back to back HR. Damn Anderson getting lit up.

Then Belli and Mookie with miscommunications on a fly ball.

Anderson starting to get exposed now. He's a journeyman for a reason.

We might go 4-0 in doubleheaders. That's amazing.

Dodgers playing Bully Ball.

This team is so good they might be able to overcome Dave Roberts.

Weird. They were scoring 10 runs every game off of us.

I lol everytime Anderson touches the brim of his hat... I mean, how front-center, out in the open is that.

Yeah they owned the Dodgers the whole series and they lay down against the Padres. Weird indeed. We'll see how it goes this weekend. They could be one of those teams that the Dodgers just have trouble with for some reason.

We were a strike away from getting swept in a 4-game set against the Phillies, and now we've won 4 in a row and have gone 4-3 since the start of that series vs. the Phillies.

It was such bs tho.

He struck Perdomo out but the 3rd base ump rules he checked his swing (it wasn’t close).

He then moved to 2nd on defensive indifference, moved to 3rd on an intentional balk and, eventually, scored on a seeing eye single to center

Ok

Yeah I didnt see the ending of the game. At least that sounds better.

But he’s been giving up runs lately, or the last 2 outings.

3 runs in 2 consecutive outings. Lucky we had a big enough lead in both.

- Early game today at 1pm. Guess Arizona has to fly out tonight.

- After killing it in AA, Michael Busch got promoted to AAA and killed it in his first game there.

2-5, HR

Look at this opposite field HR. Man, that's power right there: https://www.mlb.com/news/dodgers-michael-busch-homers-in-triple-a-debut

Yeah, he reminds me of Gavin Lux the way he's tearing up the minors right now. On the season, he has 12 HRs in 32 games so far (110 ABs).

He might be an untouchable prospect for us now. He might move into the top 30s now.

Yeah, a future infield of:

3B - Vargas/Rios
SS - Lux
2B - Busch

is starting to look like a reality. I don't know what happens to Muncy though.

Lux hasn't shown much power at the big league level, at least not yet. I do like his AB quality this year, though, so that's something. Lux is a little more lanky than Busch, who is well put-together at 210 pounds. Perhaps Busch's power will translate better to the big league level.

We're down 2-1 after 3 innings today. Buehler still struggling to put hitters away. Kershaw is probably our best starter at swing-and-miss stuff, which is not something you would have expected.

Another thing I saw today was speculation that the Nationals may consider trading Juan Soto this season. I know we need pitching more than anything, but you'd have to think we'll be involved there if he's really put on the market.

Trading Soto would be insane. If he's up you have to grab him

Never thought about Soto before, that's interesting.

The asking price would be something insane. Probably Cartaya, Miller, Vargas, Busch, Lux, May for 2.5 yrs of Soto.

Plus, we already have Betts in RF so we'd be paying him to play LF.

I think he's getting $400-500M, no doubt.

That would be an insane price to pay for a Left Fielder.
