They get their first real test against Miami. #1 spot in the power rankings (since week 2).

At least defensively it's getting better. The offense is expected to take a nose dive while Bron is out.

Not trying to be a debbie downer, but barring any lucking out (like the Bucks last year, with other teams facing tons of injury), the odds of us winning anything is TUFF.

No, we will not win it all, unless there are significant injuries on the key teams ahead of us.

The best we can hope for this season is for Rob Pelinka to do his annual cleaning-house thing, and hopefully, he can figure out a way of sending Westbrook packing.

Wow just heard the Staple center crowd booing their own team at the end of the game.

Will be funny if Pelinka decides to give this team another chance, and run it back next year

Break up a championship squad, but run it back with an obvious mediocre team

I get it

-Russ has bad starts

and

-we're a heavily injured team

but

-he's not even an effective starter right now, much less a star

AD is getting that realization too…

This is coming during a 13 game stretch where we have played 10 home games already.

This is coming during a stretch where we faced a Rox team that is 1-9 facing other teams, a Spurs team that is 3-8, a Wolves team that is 3-7, a Thunder team that is 3-6, a Blazers team that is 5-7, a Grizz team that is 6-5 and a Girnets team that is 7-6.

The silver lining us that we’re going to have extensive roadies within our upcoming schedule and they better start developing some chemistry & game planning during those windows where they are forced to spend time with each other.

I have a feeling the FO is banking on the team making a marked improvement when the rest of the guys are back (THT, Nunn, Ariza, LBJ...)

However, it is really hard to imagine that would be the case seeing as to how dysfunctional the team is most times.

Our SRS (point differential adjusted for strength of schedule) is -3.10, which is 23rd in the league. 538's RAPTOR system projects us at 37-45 with a 31% chance of making the playoffs. The point of these metrics is NOT that we are doomed or fated to fail. These metrics are snapshots as of today. The point is to illustrate how much we need to improve.

We need to get healthy, and we need to stay healthy. If Lebron keeps picking up little injuries, it is going to be a tough season. If we're dependent on Carmelo and Monk for scoring, it's going to be a tough season. We need Lebron to get on track and for guys like Nunn, THT, and Ariza to get back and start producing.

There is nothing original about those thoughts. But as you point out, we are 7-6 over the easiest stretch of the schedule. We should be 10-3 if not better. We don't get a redo on any of those games. The 3 or 4 extra games that we lost may come back to haunt us in April. They could end up being the difference between the playoffs and the play-in.

The fact that basically what you're saying everything hinges on LeBron is doomed for failure. It's over. Even if LeBron comes back, every team has improved. We don't have the chemistry or fighting mentality to win. The good teams will easily exploit are many weaknesses. I can almost guarantee we don't come out of the west.

When you have Lebron on your team everything revolves around him.

So AD can see right now that the team isn't going to win a ring, but I have to wait 20 or 30 games to say it?

If you believe in anti-jinxes, that's great. I don't partake. As the saying goes, it's bad luck to be superstitious.

20+ games in and I’m almost ready to shut the door.

The Lakers have too many problems and there may not be enough time to fix them before or during the playoffs.

This season is over. They will make the playoffs, but they will get bounced in 2nd round. Even if they make it to WCF, they aren't winning. They aren't going to beat Phoenix. Phoenix knows exactly how to beat the Lakers. And if it's GS, might even be a sweep of the Lakers.

The only reason I’m not shutting the door is because we won’t know the injury landscape until then.

But if teams like GS, BKN, PHX, MIL stay intact by April, the Lakers are getting bounced easily.

.500 is kind of what I expected early on, given the new personnel. We knew it would be an adjustment for Russ.

I still expect them to make a run, but they have to put it together on defense to have any success in the playoffs.

We are not a good team, I think that's clear as day.

But if we are as lucky as the Bucks were last season, and we stay fully healthy, and the refs for some reason decide to give us a boost, we have a chance
