I still think RW and the team as a whole would be best served by having him act as a defensive interceptor with the starting lineup, unleashing him on whatever top guard is on the other team to bully them off rhythm early-on.

Basically, have RW fill the role that Kobe did on the Redeem Team, or the role that we were having Bradley play pre-COVID. That way he can burn off his manic rage energy a bit without having to settle for jumpers, as hard pressure D can lead to easy transition points for him.

Then, when LBJ sits, RW runs the show and sets other guys up, makes his own opportunities, and straight-up bottle feeds AD like he's a newborn at 3 am in the middle of growth spurt.

When LBJ brings it up, he's the PG, and RW is like a SF attacking the rim and the glass, or driving and dishing for others. When RW brings it up, then LBjJcan set up at the arc and either drive or try one of his F-U 3s.

Tonight was pathetic, but if the plan was 2 situational guys out there with THT and Nunn carrying the bench, they should look at something like the guys that closed to start.

Russ 32/Nunn 16/Rondo
Reaves 14/Nunn 8/(AB/Baze/Ellington/Monk)
James 18/THT 24/Baze
Melo 24/James 14/AD 8/Ariza (PT when healthy)
AD 24/Howard 16/DJ 8

Eventually a guy like Monk that gets pushed back will want PT and the FO will ship them for a wing. Til then, gotta right the ship til guys get healthy.

Russ woke up, needs a 2 way guy out there and Melo seems to work since he has range and Vogel is using him like Kieff in the AD/LBJ lineups. Ideally, THT takes the next step as a starter, Nunn carries the bench and Reaves is a glue guy on the bench.

Wayne is our best shooter, so I would give him minutes for sure.

For sure he gets minutes, not disagreeing, especially if it's true he would have a starter if healthy. His minutes revolve around Melo and Baze. Only 2 games, but Baze needs to be a consistent 2 way guy.

They need to do something like
-Play Nunn and THT at least 24mpg when healthy.
-Always have a 2 way guy in there, if that's Baze, Reaves (eventually Ariza) or the two guys above
-Always have a shooter in there like Ellington/Melo or any remaining guy that hits top 5 on the team in shooting yet isn't a turnstile.
that earns it.

Last year's team was about trying to put talent out there and make them fit, it didn't work. This year, Russ is too big of a make or break player that you have to cater to him like it or not. If Melo and Ellington give defensive effort, that's a big deal.

Cut Bazemore's minutes. Give them to Reaves.

I’ve seen what Bazemore can do. I realize some games are better than others, but the few times I’ve watched Reaves, he’s always been a reliable shooter.

The coach won’t give him significant run yet because it might seem like desperation, but if he was trying to save his job, Reaves would get a lot more minutes and responsibility. Lebron has to co-sign that though and I doubt if he cares about Vogel keeping his job.

In the end, we are not beating Phoenix in a 7 game series

I'm down to at least try a "small" starting lineup with AD at the 5, but no way in hell Melo should start. Instead start LeBron at the 4 and Bazemore at the 3.

At least in theory, we could up-tempo the game better and get more fast break points with that lineup, but AD would be playing closer to the basket, which means less leak-out opportunities for him.

Also, do we really want AD to bang against widebody 5s like Steven Adams of the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday?
