We need to have a plan to re-sign him. He seems like he would be happy to stick around. Can't let him walk like Caruso. This guy has a lot talent, and is responding well to the vets around him. But he may not be a MMLE player. So you need your full MLE next year. |

Malik is the 2 guard we need. A playmaker who can shoot the (bleep) out of the ball. I’m sure LBJ is happy he finally has elite offensive game support. |

He's the starter we need... hit game fits off LeBron (and AD's) perfectly.
Vogel better not F this up and put him back to the bench.
AD, Dwight/Melo
Ariza, Melo/Johnson
LeBron, Reaves
Monk, Bradley
Westbrook, Nunn
When healthy, that feels like the best we can do. Small ball = Melo at 5 and Stanley J (once resigned) at the 4. Big ball Dwight at backup 5 and Melo or Johnson at 4 depending on need.
Still think that lineup gets smoked defensively most nights but it's the best we can do. THT still needs to go ideally for an upgrade the starting 5. |

I’m hoping some how some way we can retain him after this year. It would be like getting a B.I. or Lonzo back to fit in with AD next few years…
Open up your purse Jeanie & pay that luxury tax! The franchise can afford it.

No Melo at the 5!
All these old guys, give them 10-15 min and that’s it.
The minutes should be going to Reaves, Monk, Nunn, Stanley…the guys that fill their roles and are capable of playing NBA minutes for a sustained period of time.
THT needs to grind so he can join this group. Being Klutch doesn’t automatically get you minutes on Klutch Angeles…at least it shouldn’t. |

Nice to see Monk firmly in the starting lineup.
The next move the Lakers have to make is moving Ariza out of the starting lineup and re-signing Stanley. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

In Monk’s case the luxury tax doesn’t play a part, we only have the mMLE to offer him no matter how much they might want to pay him. Will he give back money to remain with the Lakers? We shall see. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Is it possible to give him a contract right now?
That's what you do when someone puts in the kind of work Monk is putting.
He has been killing it.
he should be our starting PG next to Bron and AD + 2 long wing players. |

the contract we can offer now is like 175% of his current salary because we don't have have the MMLE now. why would Malik even consider it. |

He's only 23, and shows he can be difficult to guard, especially when he gets hot.
I just wonder if he can become better defensively, or if this will be it. _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. He truly has no idea that he’s not as good as he thinks." - Killer_Z |

I actually think the mMLE could be enough to retain him. No real cap room teams and not a lot of Full MLE deals generally. I could see him sticking around. |
Nunn got a two year deal. How does that work? |
5 mil first year, player option second. Monk could do the same thing or go the KCP route which he signs a bigger contract when we have his full Bird right. |
Good call re KCP route. If he really likes it here, he may just do that. _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. He truly has no idea that he’s not as good as he thinks." - Killer_Z |

He’s like a poor man’s Kyrie, minus the handles. I can see him playing very well with Lebron in the future. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant |

His ability as a three way scorer and actually being able to handle the ball help so much, hopefully Nunn can do some of these things. |

He already improved a lot since starting. Had some nice defensive plays.
A player with handles that can also shoot is extremely hard to guard. |

That's funny I came here to post that he reminds me of Kyrie in some ways.
He can pretty much score from anywhere |

Quote: | On the season, Lakers lineups that feature Monk and James at center are a +12.6 in net rating, while also sporting an inferno of an offensive rating (124.7) and eFG% (59.9%).
According to Cleaning the Glass, both scoring marks rank in the 100th percentile among lineups that have played in at least 100 possessions. |

Lebron with a skilled offensive guard is just plain lethal.
Monk is not Booker or Kyrie, but he has some of those skills and paired with LBJ…Lakers are fortunate. |

If he’s clicking this good with Bron first season together (we’ll see playoff time)… absolutely crucial to keep this dude |

He'll be one of our favorite players by the end of the season, and yet he's likely gone this offseason.

Would they have his bird rights next season if they went 1+1 at the mMLE this offseason? |

Answer: Early bird. 175% of previous season or NBA average. Would be about $10 million.
So yeah no real chance |
