The positives:

His O rating is 115 per 100 possessions.
His 3% is 39.5 on 5 attempts a game.
USG rate of 12% which compliments the big 3.

The negatives:

He has a +/- of -1.6
His D rating is 113

Seems unless his 3 ball is falling, he does not do anything particularly well. The defense in the last game was great, but not sure we will get that effort regularly.

In terms of fit though. Much better than THT.

THT's numbers -
97 O rating.
Usage rate at 19.2%.
3% is 28.6
-3.1 on court

To me it's not even a contest, Ellington should be getting minutes over THT at the 2 longterm, as should Monk. I don't see how THT fits the starters at all.

In other words he's pretty much the player he's always been and we have the typical LG shouts of joy and bouts of depression as he fluctuates above and below his mean game-to-game.

And the player we always wanted(shooting 3s)

Even when Ellington is missing shots you can't leave him open.

His gravity opened up the floor for us tonight.

Wayne Ellington was clutch too!

Without his heads up play and corner trey in the last few seconds we lose in regulation.

There’s a poster here who said Ellington won’t be apart of the rotation but he’s in and Bazemore was out. Gravity counts for something.

The deflection on KP (Porzingis) was big time effort. Those are the type of guys I want on this team in the rotation. Said I think in DB's thread, I want to see less and less of Melo/Monk/Ellington lineups. Or any lineup that has even 1 defender that can't stick with their man.

Now it seems Ellington has shown he can big the effort on defense and hustle plays. We need that. Quietly, we have a team that can in fact play defense.

Don't know why this guy wasn't starting when he's your best shooter and you need shooting. It's not rocket science

I didn't think he was such a pest and full of energy on the defensive end when we signed him.. He's almost like a poor mans KCP which I was def. not expecting defensively at least. He'll never be elite on that end obviously but considering how potent of a shooter he is that isn't necessary and he still gives it his all every minute he's out there and chases through screens with zero ego. I don't see how him and/or Reaves aren't in the starting lineup going forward until maybe Ariza tries and steals it away in the coming weeks.

As much as I love THT and want to see him grow he should have never really been starting in the first place until he can be a reliable shooter with our big 3.

With Reaves and Wayne inserted into the starting lineup I could see us getting out into decent leads more and playing a much more balanced game on both ends which we need especially with a difficult schedule up ahead.

Wayne has surprised me....I called hi a journey guy 10 team 12 years...but he's true pro...has definitely been more reliable than Danny Green or Wes were here. As far as starting....sure...but I think Vogel prefers to go with someone that can really run the floor (THT) with Russ and Bron...and defensively he's not as good as Bradley or THT.

Yeah Wayne has surprised me, too. Didn't think he'd be in the rotation. Like that we're starting to lean on him and his shooting bit more

Starting him is an interesting concept, but having him and Russ as our two starting guards isn't exactly a positive defensively. I like his fit better with Russ/Bron/AD better than THT, though (that is, until THT proves he can consistently hit shots from deep)

Kudos to W.E!
Wayne started slow and had to get acclimated to the team and the system.
He has looked pretty good of late and his effort on defense has picked up too.
He's finding his range and knocking down shots.
That pump fake and corner trey to force overtime was a thing of beauty.

The last 2 games he’s been what you just described, before then he was playing well for us even before the Mavericks game.
