Harrison Faigen: Lonnie Walker and Austin Reaves are both out tomorrow vs. the Hawks.
Reaves hasn’t looked right the last few games. Out with hamstring soreness tomorrow. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night.
With Austin out for at least two weeks, I think this makes it more likely we can re-sign him because he likely won’t make “starter” criteria as a RFA meaning his cap hold would be pretty low (around 2.5 million)? Is that right?

That’s a trip, I was just about to post the breakdown.
39th game is going down tonight so we about halfway thru the season
Starter criteria is met by either starting in a minimum of 41 games during the regular season or playing at a minimum 2000 regular season minutes.
Austin has played in 36 games and started in 12, so he won’t meet starter criteria at that 1 in 3 rate for the remainder of these games especially if he’s out at a minimum of 2 weeks.
However dude has played in 1039 mintutes so far and needs to log about 960 more minutes to meet starter criteria.
His current RFA qualifying offer hold is 2.1m. However if starter criteria is met his caphold becomes about 6.3m.
So if we want to have roughly 4m in additional cap space, we better hope Reaves doesn’t get to 2000 total minutes played by April 9th.
But none of that will matter if we operate as a capped out team (ie keep our FA bird rights on the books as long as they do not sign with another team. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

Biggest no brainer ever.
The FO screwed up HUGE picking THT over Caruso. Hopefully they don't make the same mistake twice. THT was worthless compared to Caruso.
....and you could argue Reaves brings more to the table than Caruso.

i think Reaves would give us a little hometown discount simply because by being on the Lakers, he will be much more relevant, maybe only 1-2 mil?
the guys already has a shoe deal just by playing well for the Lakers.
Austin Reaves said pregame he went through a full-speed non-contact workout today. Sprinted on his hamstring yesterday and will undergo strength testing tomorrow. All positive signs.

Austin Reaves is going to miss at least three more games with his hamstring injury, due for a Feb. 2 reevaluation. We saw him doing some sprints at shootaround in Boston today.
Aw.
Well, hopefully only 3 games.
I accidentally read it as 3 weeks and gave myself a heart attack. _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖 #18!!!

Darvin Ham says it’s “definitely” possible that Austin Reaves can play in New Orleans on Saturday. Reaves has one more hurdle he has to clear to return.
Q&A: Lakers guard Austin Reaves on NBA free agency, LeBron James, Alex Caruso comparisons, more
Quote:
In his first 29 games before suffering a right ankle sprain, Reaves averaged 10.8 points on 52.1 percent shooting from the field and 39.1 percent from downtown.

Austin Reaves said he “feels great”, and expects to be probable to play tomorrow vs. OKC after missing the last month and change with a hamstring injury.
