He will never fall to us.

I know. They would have to move up to get him although he has fallen in most recent mock drafts.

We can trade up to get him. Eg Trade Kuzma for a higher pick.

I doubt we are trading a wing like Kuz if we arenโ€™t getting a proven player back. We will see what Rob can do.

Pretty sure other teams would rather have the more affordable salary, and their own homegrown development.

I guess the best thing to come out of this BS season is getting 22nd pick. Iโ€™ll take it.

It's a good spot to catch a high upside prospect teams overthink. Lakers have to sift through and find that guy, but give me OG Anunoby or Keldon Johnson any day of the week.

It does feel like one of those drafts where you could find a high level rotation player or even an eventual starter late in the 1st. Smart GMs know when to surrender 1st round picks to grease the skids of a deal, and when to build through the draft. Masai is probably the best in the league at doing that, but LA has been right up there.

You can. Roughly 15-35 is the same tier of talent.

Mike, how would you weigh raw potential, skill foundation and prep accomplishments when looking for a player at this stage? Do you want a little of everything with a priority for one over the others? Or is there a particular thing (those or otherwise) you hold materially above the rest?

I don't weigh prep accomplishments or high school rankings or ESPN rankings. I look at skill foundation by age, link that to age, general athletic levels, look at physical tools and intangibles to expand on that upside.

But lately, this past draft cycle, I've found myself talking to more sports doctors and biomechanics guys, on top of other draft guys on twitter that I've known for awhile. So now there's more links to physical health, proprioception, and how a player thinks the game.

With a big group of combo/scoring guards bunched together in the early 20s through early 30s, NBA executives say the Lakers have explored the option of moving down a few slots from the No. 22 pick while acquiring one or more second round picks.

Maybe theyโ€™re looking at OKC with 35 and 36? Seems like 22 would be a lot to give up for that though. The Thunder in general probably need to consolidate picks going forward as a strategy.

Appreciate the compliments guys. I don't know when the release dates are for the upcoming pods, but Tuesday (for me) is a big deal.
