Rather give THT the green light than sign din to a big contract.

Dinwiddle is a regular season type of moves. Not seeing that playmaking who can shoot that we need. He’s more of a shotmaker. For that role as assassin, I rather see THT develop into that role off the bench.

Dinwiddie is a fantastic upgrade over Caruso.

If you're looking for scoring, I'd rather have Melo off the bench than Dinwiddie.

Cheaper and a better fit than Kuzma.

Personnel needs to fit the coaching staff.

Problem is who we have to trade for him…. If we could sign and trade DS that would be great, but if we trade Kuzma and lose DS for nothing, that’s a bad move IMO. If we had a sign and trade with DS for another wing set up I would be all for it though.

Sure, a guy that's horriffic on defense and is only getting older fits our defensive personnel real well.. Melo makes Kuz look prime Artest esque on defense. Hard pass there even for the minimum unless he's cool playing super low minutes and sitting on the bench during stretches of games he's not needed.

I think if we can straight up swap DS with Dinwiddie, it's a win in my book.

Why would the nets want to pay DS 20 mill when he’d almost never be in any closing lineups

We can't give him a big contract

That's exactly why we shouldn't either, except for the fact that we'd lose him for nothing. Still, we can't replace that salary, so it's my hope that he's either signed-and-traded, or signed and then traded in December at the first opportunity.

I understand your point on defense but I was specifically addressing offense off the bench. We struggled to score when LeBron and AD sat. Kuzma added little to nothing (consistently).

Melo would add scoring off the bench and could allow LeBron to sit longer while not giving up much scoring.

Dinwiddie is a decent scorer - with the ball in his hands.

I would caution against making the same mistake and putting another ball dominant Lead Guard next to LeBron (like Schroder) in the starting lineup (again) expecting that player to fill in as a scorer (again).

Melo could score off the bench independent of what LeBron/AD do in the starting lineup, unlike Dinwiddie next to LeBron/AD.

Dinwiddie? Isn't he a bad 3pt shooter and worse defender than Schroder (despite having the size)?

I'll pass, especially off that knee injury

Schroder, Dinwiddie…these types just don’t seem like championship team type players.

They also don’t really fall in line with role…flawed games with me attitudes tbh.

The Nets currently have a payroll of $154 million. It is impossible for them to create enough cap space to receive a sign-and-trade player (They would basically need to give away Durant for second round picks).

I think Kuz will retire as a laker and even then we will still be looking for trade partners for him

Wasn't there once a loophole where players could come out of retirement to make trades work? I think they closed the loophole, but otherwise that could be a future career for Kuzma.
