The biggest threat to a Lakers repeat is playing the Clippers in the first round before the Lakers could have more time to gel. So with that being said, it would be in the Clippers' best interest to face the Lakers in the first round because the road to the championship goes thru the Lakers. If the Clippers don't face the Lakers in the first round, they're gonna have to face each other sometimes later anyways and the Lakers would be at their most vulnerable in the first round.

The clippers have been playing like trash compared to earlier. Kawai is having foot issues. Pg is teetering on crashing out again.

Well, they played great against us. Maybe they were just bored playing against inferior opponents or maybe they were tanking because they always seem to show up playing against us. They are a loaded team that's gonna be a handful against any opponent. Hopefully, they get the Mavs in the first round and get eliminated.

You’re thinking like a fan- not like someone who is making $1m+ each year and doesn’t want to get fired.

The impetus to tank is coming from Frank, Ty Lue, etc- people who don’t want to get fired by Balmer after a loss to the Lakers in round one.

Balmer might want to avoid the Lakers also, but for Frank and the gang, it’s smart on the their part from a job preservation pov.

If they lose to the Lakers in first round, no one will be safe- especially if KL leaves as a result and went to the Knicks or Heat.

By tanking their way into the other bracket with another loss, they set themselves up to reach the WCF...........................

WHICH THEY HAVE NEVER REACHED BEFORE!!!

So when they lose to LAL in the WCF, they can still tell Balmer they’re making real progress and have gone further than ever, justifying why they shouldn’t get fired.

Kudos to your call on this leking...although I didnt post it, I strongly believed the Clips would LOVE to beat up their city rivals in the playoffs for bragging rights.

Hard to not view they ducked and dive, however. I'm sure they will say "resting for playoffs"....but, yea...that's a tough narrative for me to buy into as to their sole reason for what happened.

All good reasons I did not consider...just figured the "machismo" standpoint of "oh yea, we want you, BAD, and now!"

So if PG goes..."Wayoff P" again...how does that Clipper future look for that franchise?

Lots of pressure on PG I would think? He has a crappy rep at this point for playoff performance.

Why settle for just WCF when you could have it all? I mean if the Clippers beat Lakers in the first round, who's gonna stop them from winning it all? As of right now, the Lakers should be the favorite to win it all even with the lack of games left. However, if they managed to past the first round, they would be even much better than they are right now so it would be harder to beat them then.

Confirmed.

Nothing is confirmed. Both Denver and the Clips would have to lose tomorrow for them to stay put at 3 and 4. If Denver wins, they go to 3 and we go to 6. If Denver loses, Clipper wins.. Clipper goes to 3, Portland goes to 6.

It will be interesting to see if both Clips and Denver loses, then you know they were both gunning for #4. They play at the same time, so one can't wait for the results of the other. Both coaches will be getting score updates every minute. LOL!

Exactly,
Clippers will be 4th only if they lose against OKC or their result in last game is same as Denvers.

If clippers lose to OKC, it will obviously look as if they deliberqtely lost to avoid playing lakers until WCF.

Questions:

Would the Clippers rather face Dallas or Portland? Also, who owns the tie breaker if Dallas loses and Portland wins?

Probably rather blazers. Either one is tough. I think mavs beat them. If Portland gets out of his mind dame I could see him putting doubt in the clippers real quick.

Does Nuggets don't have any shame? At least make the game close for the starters and let the bench gave up the game. It's too obvious.

The Clippers lost! We won't play them until the WCF, if we make it that far, assuming we win the first play-in game to finish 7th.

Same goes for Denver, what a terrible mentality and I hope it bites them back.

In this crazy year, this worked out best for us - with two and at times all three of our big 3 out, we get the easiest path to make it back to the WCF.

First we have to get by GS, which we can't sleep on.

Then we draw the Suns, who don't have an answer for our size in a series. No one to cover Lebron.

Next, we most likely draw the Nuggets, with no Murray, and nobody who can cover AD.

Then we face either the Clippers or the Jazz (and I don't think the Mavs are a cakewalk for the Clippers either). Hard to say, but I think a healthy Jazz team beats the Clippers in the second round.

It's not easy, we are still not fully healthy and our guys have to build chemistry on the fly. But it is do-able.
