She had a tough go of life but was a fighter and a believer and IMO a good soul. I hope she’s at peace. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

Me too.
I wasn't aware "Nothing compares 2 U" was written by Prince. I'm not familiar with any of her other songs. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

I remember 1990, the year I met my wife. I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got came out. We loved it. She was so bold, so refreshingly honest.
I remember SNL, the ripping of the pope's photo. At the time, most didn't understand it and most crucified her for it. It really rocked her career. She was never the same after that.
Having grown up catholic and know personal stories of how the catholic church protected priest molesters for centuries, I feel she got a bum rap. In 1992, no one knew what she was saying. She was about 10 or so years too early to make a statement like that.
Kudos to her for making that statement.
I am so sorry she lived such a painful troubled life and losing her son last year to suicide.
Thanks for the music and thanks for having passion for things you believed in.

A very tragic story this is, as she struggled through mental health issues for years, and her 17-year-old son killed himself about a year and a half ago.

RIP, Sinead.
Yeah she nuked her career at the height of her fame to stand up for the right thing. She was a unique talent. Showtime did a documentary about her last year that is well worth your time. _________________ 14-5-3-12

As someone who loves Elton John and his singing catalog (along with Bernie Taupin's lyrics, of course), Sinead's version of "Sacrifice" is haunting and quite beautiful. So different from Elton's version, which of course I love too, but I think Sinead's version is actually more compelling.

Did they? What was it called?
RIP Sinead.

She was a genuine bad ass. Not only extremely talented, but outspoken and unafraid. When asked whether tearing up the Pope's picture defined her career, she responded:
“Yes, in a beautiful (bleep) way. There was no doubt about who this (bleep) is. There was no more mistaking this woman for a pop star. But it was not derailing; people say ‘Oh, you (bleep) up your career’ but they are talking about the career they had in mind for me. I (bleep) up the house in Antigua that the record dudes wanted to buy. I (bleep) up their career, not mine. It meant I had to make my living playing live, and I am born for live performance." _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

She also could have made tens of millions in the entertainment industry based on her looks alone--she was a knockout--and she chose to keep with the shaved head, which IMO made her even more stunning. _________________ http://chickhearn.ytmnd.com/

Meh, it's just more Morrissey being the self-righteous, judgemental douchebag looking for ways to be relevant.
Did the record industry do Sinead wrong? Of course they did. But plenty of fellow artists (and certainly fans) have supported her and stuck by her over the years, most notably Kris Kristofferson.
Calling everyone out as being hypocrites for recognizing her talents and acknowledging her impact is just another "look at me" moment from a bigoted, rightwing (bleep) with his own "black pop conspiracy" ax to grind. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know
