It just seems hard to get all the way to 3. To their credit, they won a lot this season. The Nuggets and Clippers will rest players. If the Clippers really wanted that matchup with Lakers first round, they would have done more to win yesterday’s game.

If they go 0-4, the Clippers have to go 3-1. I’m not sure but I think the Clippers have the tie breaker.

What they can try and do is beat Portland and hope the Lakers want a top 6 seed bad enough to take advantage.

5 Lowest seeds ever to win an NBA championship

https://www.sportskeeda.com/basketball/5-lowest-seeds-ever-win-nba-championship

The Lakers will likely be in position to tie or break that record.

As it stands now, the path would be Phoenix/Clippers/Jazz/Philly.

Healthy, I think we win it all.

Yeah, the only way I see the Clippers beating us is if we meet them in the first round and we just can't quite get right in time or possibly the Nets if Durant and Harden especially get locked in and stay healthy throughout the Playoffs. All those other teams i'd happily bet large amounts of $$$ on us to win as long we're mostly healthy aka Lebron and AD.

I still fully believe we can and will beat the Clips or Nets, things just have to go our way a bit more then any other team in the NBA.

That's an interesting stat though. It would make sense we'd match or break the record on this insane season though

And the fact that they’re only one game back of the #1 seed in the loss column.

Does anyone else see the play in as a potential benefit for the Lakers?

It would give us an extra game or two to work on chemistry in having everyone back and playing together.

Granted, I know it's not a best of 7 series, but if we finish 7th or 8th, we're guaranteed at least 2 games...and I can't see us losing 2 to the likes of the Warriors, Memphis, or San Antonio.

They said all games would be within the same window so that no one would already know of relevant outcomes.

Now, one game can be done and another team fighting for same spot may already know outcome by playing at a later time.

It all depends on LBJ's health... if he was just being a drama queen when he said he might never be 100% again... and he's close to his old self, I'd say we have a good chance. If he's hobbled then the odds are very low no matter who we are playing. It was nice to finally see AD playing like the MVP caliber player we expected to see this season... (maybe he needs a fiery coach to piss him off all the time instead of someone laid back...) but even this version of AD cannot lead them past 3 top Western conference teams plus Philly or Brooklyn without LBJ.

If Lakers win tonight, I think they can win their next 3 easy games with Bron. And if Blazers will lose to jazz and suns, then they might still make it to the 6th spot.

If Blazers wins vs Jazz though, I think that will be it, I don't see Denver playing hard in their last game of the season vs Blazers. Especially, they might be up against the Lakers if they knock the Blazers out of the 6th spot.

Dallas won’t lose two games. Only hope is Portland drops 2 and we win out.

I think Suns will still play hard hoping to knock Blazers to the 7th spot. To avoid the Lakers.

I don’t think these teams are trying to manipulate where they land. They’re going to get swept by the Lakers if they don’t lose to another team first. Either way they lose.

Suns will get the win, they will prefer the Lakers to be in the 6th spot, than possible 7th spot.

I just don't know about the jazz, they are almost sure of the top spot, they just need to win 1 out of remaining 3.

The Nuggets would surely rest Jokic in their last game of the season vs the Blazers.

Wow, Blazers end the season with a brutal schedule (they are one loss up on us right now):

- @Utah
- @Phoenix
- vs. Denver

Not necessarily, Nuggets will probably rest their key players. hoping Jazz and Suns play hard against them even if they don't have actually need to, not unless they don't want the Lakers as their opponent in the first round

Phoenix better win some games. I don't want us to go through the play-ins and still having to play the Clips in the first round

Lakers just need to focus on winning games and ramping up to a playoff level intensity and efficiency.

Lakers need to get to the 6th seed and avoid the play-in. Then worry about the matchup. They play who is next on the schedule, whether that is advantageous or not.

Still a real possibility of some shuffling in positioning throughout the top 10. Lakers can’t control that. They can control the next 3 games and getting James back on the court to get the Lakers playing at a playoff level. Other teams already there, Lakers are behind.

This. If the Lakers are playing well, the opponent doesn't matter. Of course, they have yet to have Schroder/KCP/LBJ/AD/AD2 on the court at the same time in a meaningful game.

I'm torn between these two:

1) To avoid the Clippers in the first round so we have a series to ramp up and gain some semblance of chemistry with everyone on the floor.

2) Or to just play hard and try to get to the 6th spot and bet that we can handle the Clips in round 1. Not intimidated by the Clippers, but would prefer to face them in a later round given the amount of time off Bron/AD have had.

None of this matters if we're not healthy.
