Just finished Season 2 and all I can say that this show is amazing and is criminally underrated! It is based off the writings of Bruce Lee and is set in the 1870's San Francisco during the political conflict and gang wars in Chinatown. The show has great action choreography, immersive world building, and characters with depth. The show has a unique setting and has a large asian cast.

Season 1 starts off a bit slow but is a great foundation.
Season 2 really picks up and raises the stakes.

If you like shows like Banshee or Spartacus, this is definitely a must watch! It has the same show runner from Banshee, Jonathan Tropper.

1st episode is free on Youtube. It does contain nudity and sex scenes.

I'm not sure what HK style action is but fight scenes are similar style to those Bruce Lee films.

The first 2 seasons are on HBO Max.

Hong Kong style action. Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat....super fast paced, crazy stunts, acrobatics etc.

Yeah there are some great stunt work and acrobats. I wouldn't call it super fast paced tho but it is very similar to those old school Bruce Lee films.

I just watched both seasons over the past few weeks and loved it. The action is great as you mentioned. But the racial issues are what really intrigued me. It’s insane how some of the stuff that hasn’t changed 150 years later, eg. exploiting immigrants for cheap labor, treating them as subhuman, cops not wanting to help sex workers or poc.

This show is great because you can sit back and enjoy the action of knife fights and Kung fu or you can really dive in to serious stuff.
