A singular talent probably best known for his performances as Lt. Giardello in "Homicide: Life on the Street" and in Alien, Kotto's lead/co-lead performances in Across 110th Street, Truck Turner, and Blue Collar showcase his talents as an imposing, but empathetic performer and are absolute must-sees in his rich, varied filmography. May he rest in peace.

Young Kotto gives a fine, affecting supporting turn in the seminal film Nothing But a Man (1964):

He was a versatile actor. He did everything from Shakespeare to Sci-Fi. Even did westerns. I liked his role in 5 Card Stud as George the bartender. RIP

One of my favorite roles he played was Dr. Kananga/Mr. Big in "Live and Let Die".

That showcases his versatility. Jame Bond villain. That film introduced Jane Seymore. Paul McCartney and Wings sang the theme. McCartney of the Beatles.

He was bad-ass as one of Schwarzenegger's cohorts in The Running Man.
