It’s one of the oldest forms of “polite” racism. “But maybe...”, “he might not mean...”, “I haven’t seen evidence...” _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

We had guys on here debate that they just couldn’t see where the idea that Trump was racist came from. My favorite was, “maybe he’s not racist and he’s just pandering to the racists”. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. In some parts (of The South), racism is euphemistically called tradition.

The Monarchy to me seems like an outdated concept.
It would be cool if they could just dress up and play nice, but when they show their warts you have to wonder if it wouldn't be better off just to drop the whole thing.
Of course I am an American. We don't have a King unless you counted Kobe. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

its outdated. Unfortunately for them their system doesnt seem like you can do anything about it. In theory in 200yrs from now they could still be there. Wild |

In the immediate aftermath of Princess Diana's death, the monarchy's popularity was at a low point, to the point that the notion of abolishing it was actually gaining some steam, but the British people as a whole embrace it, and its popularity recovered. The queen is seen very, very favorably now in the UK. This interview (which I have not seen) is being viewed far more differently over there, not surprisingly. |

I refuse to paint with a broad stroke but let’s be real. A lot of brits are in fact racist. I have spent a fair amount of time there. It’s a different racism compared to the south here where it’s angry. Over there it’s more of disrespect. A lot the racism is pointed towards Pakistanis and other immigrants but racism towards blacks is still prevalent throughout the country. |

And colorism was a tool the Colonialists used to divide & conquer populations.

Americans don't get that there are some countries whose national identity is tied to a monarchy, even if its symbolic. I don't see the British royal family going away because its part of their soft power. |

Something wasn't right about her demeanor. She doesn't come off as genuine to me. I don't 100 percent believe what they are implying.
The interview was one sided. |

Agree. I think he's just going along with what she wants to do even if it means throwing his family under the bus for public display. |

I lived over there for about a year, which hardly qualifies me as an expert, but here's my over-generalization: There's a divide among Brits regarding the royalty. The professional class tends to be the least interested in them, other than a derisive party joke or two. There's an implicit understanding that they have value as an institutional unifying factor, but other than that they see them as good for tourism and little else. The working class adores them, and see them as the personification of everything Brit and as a solid link to the glory days when the sun never set on the Union Jack. Those are the tabloid devouring masses that Piers Morgan appeals to. Markle's skin tone is offensive to them, it's an attack on the colonial hierarchy that made Britain a super power. |

You're saying he's throwing his FAMILY under the bus. That's difficult for me to believe.
I believe the Royal Family is cut from British cloth. A cloth woven with superior belief twine. IMO they think they are better than commoners.
Britain has a history of racism. Megan being multiracial is below their standard. I believe there was a comment about the color of their child's skin.
Harry broke tradition. He outed the family making him an outcast. I believe Megan and Harry. I haven't read anything from the Queen debunking their story. Of course I haven't read all media stories.
What I've inked is my opinion. I don't have any proof it's just my opinion. Your opinion seems to say Harry's outing his family, I don't believe it. I think, that's just your opinion. If you have proof please post it. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I agree with you on this. For some its a throwback to the days when Brittania ruled the world instead of these days where they are relegated to barely keeping the island together. |
