I wonder how he would do against minor league pitching. Seriously.

Thank god for Belli’s + speed and + fielding and + personality because anybody else and I’m asking for their head on a platter right about now. He should be batting 7-8 with Barnes they can take turns GIDP when someone before them gets on base.

No Mookie again today. Misses entire 4-game series. Pollock is somehow hitting 7th in our lineup, behind both Beaty and Bellinger, even though Pollock is on fire right now and even though Cody is literally the worst hitter by batting average in all of the majors with a minimum of 150 plate appearances. We have someone I've barely heard of starting in RF tonight, Billy McKinney.

Gonna need a Buehler gem, probably. And even that may not be good enough, given that's exactly what we got from Urias last night.

Can't be any worse than Reks, who is an automatic strike out (hell, so is Cody).

The Dodgers acquired outfielder Billy McKinney from the New York Mets in exchange for minor league outfielder Carlos Rincon. They made room on the 40-man roster for McKinney by designating right-handed pitcher Jake Reed for assignment.

McKinney, a 2013 first-round pick of the Athletics out of Plano West Senior High School in Texas, split this season between the Brewers and Mets hitting a combined .213/.282/.415 with eight home runs in 79 games.

The 26-year-old has a career .225/.288/.430 slash line with 26 home runs and three stolen bases in four Major League seasons with the Yankees (2018), Blue Jays (2018–20), Brewers (2021) and Mets (2021).

Rincon played in 63 games with Double-A Tulsa this year, slashing .263/.343/.470 with 12 home runs. The 23-year-old from the Dominican Republic has hit .244/.326/.467 with 84 home runs and 23 stolen bases across all minor league levels since beginning his career in the Dodger organization in 2016. He was signed as an international free agent in July 2015.

Reed made his Major League debut this season and allowed three runs (two earned) in 5 1/3 innings across six appearances (one start) for the Dodgers. The 28-year-old right-hander was a 2014 fifth-round pick of the Twins.

We've haven't had much success with our callups this year:

Reks
Neuse
Raley
Souza
Peters

Who else?

Let's see how McKinney does.

This is another critical game for the division race. The Dodgers could go 4 games behind the Giants in the loss column.

I feel terrible for Kenley. He had an all-star caliber first half. He has been a great Dodger. Fans can be cruel in booing him off the mound. But that's the life of an MLB closer.

I don’t. We go through this every year. He gets paid alot. He hasn’t lived up to his contract.

We have this discussion every year about how great of a Dodger he’s been and how we don’t want to hurt his feelings.

So we give up another stolen base which leads to a run huh? Man, why can’t we do that?

As we lead 3-1 after Smith's bomb, I thought I'd mention that Cartaya is now rated by Keith Law as the #22 overall prospect in all of baseball. This really does feel like the time to move Keibert Ruiz for something nice.

Also, looks like Mookie is going to be down for at least a few more days. I don't know why they don't just IL him and backdate it. We could use the flexibility.

He should use it as motivation. Nobody expects him to be perfect and to successfully close out every big game. But he can make up for it by having a successful second half of the season.

Dodgers had runners on first and second no outs in the bottom of the 7th inning and they couldn't cash in.

2 on, no outs...You had to at least get 1 in.

Looking like Treinen and then KJ again to close. Doc prob. wants to show his confidence in Kenley, that he's still our guy, even with the blown save yesterday.

Putting the winning run on with ball four doesn't inspire confidence, particularly for a guy barely above .200.

That wasn't Kenley's fault - he should have thrown to 1st. Runners were running on contact, that's how he was safe at 2nd.

This is destroying his confidence, and destroying my confidence in him. And I know I’m not alone.
