It was and many predicted correctly. Yet some still support the spoiled Buss kids.

Can I be honest? In the past, I had found you to be pretty nauseating with your negative outlooks and takes but in the end, you're proven pretty damn correct on how this whole thing would end up.

At the time another poster pointed out how often situations like this don’t work out with the second generation. My own Chicago Bears are a good example of that. But as with the Lakers I still remain a fan of them.

And Jeanie is reportedly producing a COMEDY about a basketball front office.

...or is it "Starring In" a COMEDY about a bball front office.

Except there's nothing funny about this, unless you are a Laker Hater, then it's hilarious. Personally, these games make me confused as to what the heck they are thinking in the front office. Unless we get an J West, Ainge, or an Ujiri type we are going to be stuck with these confusing, ill-fitting rosters for years to come.

Jeanie,

When you fired your brother in 2017, it was because your brother was not able to satisfy the self-imposed tiimeline that the Lakers would compete again in three years

How much are you giving yourself? Seriously, your selection for GM has basically decimated this team in 2 years. .

Jim made that timeline and hung himself on it. Jeanine is not THAT stupid.

Dr Buss was a genius, his children not so much. It's astonishing that an organization like the Lakers, whose brand is worldwide recognized as the most historical and succesfull NBA organization is managed like an amateur organization from a little town where the FO is composed of the owner's inner circle.

Personally, I think this has less to do with spoiled management, and more to do with a spoiled fandom. Why do some people believe that the Lakers are somehow due never-ending great basketball? Perpetual title contention? A FO that never makes mistakes? If people have these unrealistic expectations, that's not ownership's fault. It's not the GM's fault. It's not the coach's, or player's, fault.

Without going into the weeds of the decision to sign LeBron, trade for AD, and all the subsequent moves, the Lakers were able to win a title in 2020...17 overall. During that time were the Lakers always great? Or, even good? Did the ownership/management always make the best decisions? No. There are teams out here that have NEVER sniffed an NBA Finals, much less a championship. Through the life of a team, there will be up's and down's. But, you got Lakers fans out here acting like its the end of the world.

I get it that no one likes watching bad basketball. And, yeah, people are going to vent. Cool. But, there's a difference between venting/critique, and just being gross with unwarranted verbal personal attacks on the front office. People need to grow up.

Is she the one sending those lame tweets after the game? That should be her only role with the team. "Tough one" " Game" "Final Count".

You would get a lot of arguments about that. What semi-intelligent person issues hit pieces on her own franchise just to make her brother look bad? Then when she takes over the author of those hit pieces gets a spot with the organization. As the face of the franchise I doubt that anyone is impressed with what they see.

Fans pour their emotions, their hearts (not to mention their dollars and time) into their team. It's probably the second largest investment of their emotional capital, second only to their family/partners/pets.
Moreover, this depreciation of their emotional capital is not due to some overall factor that affects everyone - like inflation affects the whole economy, it's due to the sustained subpar performance of the team's ownership/management.
So I don't begrudge it if people vent, they're hurting because the team they've grown up with and loved is deteriorating rapidly.

Jeanie was bad at this even when Mitch and Jim were running the team. Making their self imposed deadlines public was the stupidest thing she could have done at the time. And she is making stupid decisions today. She’s unfit to run the team

The lakers would be in a much better place if Jeannie buss can just let Jim and Mitch ride this through. I get it, Jim and Mitch is not a flashy front office, they don’t make moves that grabs national attention, but they were improving this team slow and steady with draft picks. But Jeannie with Phil Jackson in her ear sabotage what Jim and Mitch had establish for what? A COVID asterisk title while ruined teams future for the next decade.

I presume Jeanie is both intelligent and talented. She just got Peter principled, rising to a level beyond her competence through nepotism. Now she’s doing everything she can to shield herself from accountability for her performance and she’s running out of scapegoats.

It is fair to mention she faces a particularly difficult set of circumstances, holding her position through a trust that contain multiple siblings that have their own agendas, not having meaningful NBA wealth outside the team, and running the biggest brand in the sport. Some of those failings are her father’s, who made a very poor succession plan (including putting Jim and Jeanie together to run the franchise). But it’s been a decade now. They need an actual solution.

In general your take makes sense and can be considered valid...but looking at the specific context of the Lakers it doesn't. We can look directly at the decisions made as the ineptitude that is complained about. Let's start with the 4 year extension of a GM that put the roster together last year...eight 6'4" or shorter players with no one between 6'4" and 6;8" with six former over the hill Lakers...issing the post season with an expanded 10 team per conference format. There's more

The saddest part to all of this is all she had to do was sit on her hands and do nothing. How freaking difficult is that! Instead she extends lebron and Pelinka. Who does that?!?! Our rebuild could begin next year with 2 max slots and AD as trade-bait. Now we're stuck with this garbage for another 3 years, and trust me folks, lebron will not go away quietly. He will want another extension after this.
