The Clippers are getting even less from their superstars if you account the avearge of the 2 stars playing games. At least AD and Bron play half the games at a near MVP level. I'm not saying the Clippers are run well, they are just spending a ton on quality role players.
We just needed to make some moves to keep depth around what we have. Jeanie isn't willing to pay for those moves. We let Caruso walk, we trade with capspace in mind, to stay under the lax tux repeater tax penalties. We trade for Westbrook, giving up KCP and Kuzma, 2 key 2-way guys. We fire our champinship winning head coach to make him the scapegoat, only to see the new "players" coach with a "strong voice" have the team in the identical spot.
I mean no one reasonable here is asking for a title every year from AD/Bron. However we should be a better team than this, and that's on the way we're choosing to operate. We're trying to play a game of where we neither want to invest to win a title nor we want to invest in the future to get a future title team going. We're literally investing the most weight in mediocrity. By keeping AD, we're also wasting away our lone trade asset that could fetch a future of quality. We probably held onto him way too long. And as others have argued, if we are going to keep AD, making the Hield/Turner type of move was a must to keep the team competitive enough to be a playoff lock. |
