It was almost all due to effort. Play harder and with more focus. Denver almost doubled the Lakers in rebounds. They were desperate. Nuggets played a lot harder. If Lakers match the effort, and they will, they won't lose. They are the better team.

Caruso had 2 points in 25 minutes and not much else. Maybe that time could have been used to bring in some shooters, especially when it was a 3 point game in the 4th quarter.

Malone sped the game up in favor of the young Nuggets and Vogel didn't make an adjustment to a zone until late in the game. Lakers have veterans and players not even touching the floor. You don't need to play Lebron and AD 40 minutes if you know how to extend your bench.

He still played great defense, can’t ask too much out of a guy who is making minimum. Same for rondo

Caruso defense was okay this game, including the 2 steals. It was not great defense. He was getting beat late and wasn't stopping anyone. Also, he was 1-7 on FG and 0-4 for threes.

I'm not blaming Caruso anyway. Vogel couldn't see his non-production and leaned on LBJ and AD's scoring.

The longer this series goes...the more Denver will win the effort battle. They are young. Our key rotation guys besides AD are on the wrong side of 30.

Imo if im denver I have the same concern we did after game 2

To give up that much in so little time egad

Btw this game almost mirrored game 3 of celtics heat...heat made a crazy run towards end to make a then blowout a close game

That kind of stuff can get in folks heads especially when you were hitting shot after shot, had a guy have a career night, double up on rebounds (thats very unlikely to happen again), opposing team shot barely above 20% 3s...

And you were sweating bullets under 3 minutes to go

Im frustrated with our guys for a mostly lackluster effort but they showed heart, showed zone can cause issues, and almost stole this one. If Im a Denver, Im feeling a bit concerned still.

Every game the Lakers have lost in the playoffs was because the other team played harder. They corrected that against the Blazers and Rockets and I expect the same to happen here too. Murray and Jokic are not going to beat LeBron and AD over 7 games.

Which is baffling. The Lakers are a veteran team that knows the stakes and what it takes to win a playoff series.

And they get outworked, out rebounded and and squander an opportunity.

Now they have to deal with a team that won’t quit and feel they have the answer to the Lakers. Up to the Lakers to change that now.

You go up 2-0 and there is a tendency to mentally relax and on top of that the other team plays desperate. I'm not surprised at the outcome tonight.

We could’ve played harder but to me it’s clear Clippers didn’t collapse...they just weren’t the better team. Denver played down to the competition by lack of effort and focus and ended up going down 3-1 in both series. Once they dialed in they proved their superiority. We didn’t get the easier matchup. They are the hardest challenge in the West

Blowing a 3-1 lead is a collapse.

Eh...actually I think they're just inconsistent team, a reflection of them perhaps being younger. The constant deficits and coming from behind showed that, as did, for example, them almost collapsing tonight in the 4th.

Just my 2 cents.

Gotta beat them with the effort rest of this series. Nugs dont really have quit in them, that's for sure.

And yea, better strategies as well re attacking them on offense and playing defense, eg mix up team defense looks.

BTW:

Denver has now gone to the FT line more in past 2 games than Lakers:

Game 2, 33-19 edge
Game 3 29-22 edge

So, yea, 62-41 edge over 2 games.

You’re right it was. But after watching nuggets against us...the more I feel the Clippers were damn fortunate to be up in the series in the first place. Nuggets were always the better team and shouldnt have been down to begin with. They took the series more than the Clippers gave it away IMO.

Although the second half of game 7 was 50% amazing nuggets and 50% clippers choking

That’s expected though. It’s usually the league nature to shift the calls to a team that is down in the series. We have witnessed the many times
in the playoff. When we were making our comeback, they were also careful in blowing their whistles unless it’s blatant obvious and we also got the benefit of some late calls on that run. Now the calls shifted, I expect a better game from the officials.

Can't win them all. It was 4-1 the previous two series. I guess this is the game we drop for this series. I'm confident the Lakers will bounce back and close out the series 4-1. For our role players, if you can't score, then at least bring the effort on defense. Shooting comes and goes but defense can be consistent.

Javale looks almost useless. What happened to the focused Javale from last year who played so well. Dude regulated himself to being the team mascot.

This is cliche at this point, but the next game is a MUST WIN. Can't go 2-2 with this Denver team

Denver is used to playing with their backs against the wall. The Lakers played lackadaisical on both ends of the floor. We never really got it going.

Regroup, refocus and move on. DEFENSE LA!

Adjustments necessary for Game 4:

1. Intensity: Actually act like you care before the final 10:00.

2. Rebounding: Fewest rebounds for a Lakers team since 2006, postseason or otherwise.

3. Lineups: Javale should not start the game. Maybe at the start of the 2nd half for 8 minutes, but Dwight should be lining up for the opening jump. Also, if Jokic is in the game, Dwight should be attached to his hip. Small lineups should not even be considered when Jokic is in.

4. Focus: Stay focused and don't give the refs any reason to call fouls. This also plays into turnovers.

The Nuggets know they got lucky tonight.

If you think Denver got lucky tonight, then what do you call game 2?

Game 2 was the Lakers massively playing down to their opponent. When they were up by 5-10 points, they milked clock and overpassed. When the score was tied or they fell behind by 1, they scored quickly and easily every time.
