Hodges is comically awful. Tells you how little McVay cares about winning preseason games. He probably already knows that Perkins will be the #3.

I predict that Jacob Harris will overtake Higbee as our TE1 by season's end....

Hard to believe he started playing football just 3 years ago. Just a naturally gifted athlete. I'm keeping my eye on this kid.

He's basically a big WR, like a Jimmy Graham in his prime, in that I don't think he's much of a blocker. I can see him as a better pass-catching option, I agree.

Apparently, Jalen Ramsey got torched by Hunter Renfroe in a scrimmage today with the Raiders. Social media was ripping Ramsey pretty good. McVay was not happy with the Rams performance today.

What a joke.

The Rams have placed punters Corey Bojorquez and Johnny Hekker on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced.

That leaves them without a punter in tonight's preseason game vs. the Raiders.

Rams play the Raiders tonight at SoFi stadium. Both these teams had two days of scrimmages this week and fights broke out on both days. On the last day, they had to cancel the scrimmage because of fighting. Tonight's game should be interesting. It appears these two teams don't like each other very much.

I know it's only a preseason game but I don't like the way McVay has this team prepared. Just like last week. They only have three weeks left to get it together.

The Rams have a new offensive coordinator and a new defensive coordinator. They also lost their starting running back for the year. They have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball but I am concerned. Especially about the running game.

The Rams are showing signs of life in the 2nd quarter. Our backup punter just kicked a field goal.

Rams rookie Chris Garrett (252 overall out of Concordia) with a 2Q to remember:

2 tipped passes - 1 leading to an INT
1 strip sack
1 shared sack
1 additional QB hit
1 TFL

As @DMarcoFarr1 pointed out, noteworthy that he did it from the right edge (opposite Leonard Floyd's side).

Darrell Henderson hurt his thumb at practice today. McVay didn't provide any further details, and he will undergo tests. Uh oh.

If it's anything whatsoever that could put his availability for the season opener in question, you have to think that the Rams will be looking for veteran insurance, either if guys get cut or perhaps a trade where it's a conditional late-round pick or something.

Oh no. Hope he is okay.

ESPN Power rankings just came out. I am surprised the Rams are #5.

Quote:
When the Rams opened training camp, Allen appeared to be second in a competition with Austin Corbett to earn the starting job at center. But midway through camp, coach Sean McVay bumped Allen to starter, and now the fourth-year pro must prove he can excel on a team that has Super Bowl aspirations. A fourth-round pick in 2018, Allen is entering the final season of his rookie contract and does not have an extension in place. He started at center in 2019 and had uneven results in nine games before suffering a season-ending knee injury, and he did not play in 2020. -- Lindsey Thiry

Patriots are trading RB Sony Michel to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for two late-round conditional draft picks, per sources.

New England gets back two picks, the Rams get needed talent and depth at running back.

So given the likelihood that the Rams get a 4th Round comp pick, it seems like the Rams will end up giving this pick to the Pats (they don't have their own 4th Round pick, surprise surprise), while they end up keeping their 5th and 6th rounders.

The Rams are trading a 2022 fifth and sixth round pick to the Patriots for RB Sony Michel, multiple sources said. Rams get their complementary player to Henderson, who will also alleviate some of the depth/durability concerns at the position.

Compensation update: It’s a 5th rounder and 6th rounder this year that converts to a 4th rounder when/if the #Rams get a 4th round comp pick. Complicated, but essentially Sony Michel for a 4th round pick. Solid value.

It'll likely end up a 4th round pick. Michel is a nice pick up for the cost of a 4th, it's a good trade for both teams. New England was moving on from Michel, they didn't exercise his fifth year option, which is a good thing for the Rams. That fifth year would have made the trade unpalatable.

Michel was pretty important in Super Bowl LIII; I'm sure the resident Rams fans don't need this reminder. He's a bit of a mixed bag. He has good but not great power, he can catch the ball but he's not a natural pass-catching back, good but not elite speed, knows how to use blockers, good vision, processes and makes pretty quick and good decisions. I didn't like him or just about any RB as a first round pick, and in his case I thought he was more of a mid second to mid third round talent, I'd shade that towards the third due to health issues.

He's a very good value considering the poor depth at RB for the Rams. The key is his health, he's had durability issues dating back to when he was at University of Georgia (like Gurley). After a very good first season with New England, he began to experience a variety injuries in 2019, which degraded his YPC. It wasn't really all his fault; the New England OLine was uncharacteristically terrible that season. LT was a revolving door frequently filled by a marginal practice squad player, and the best run blocker on the team was nursing an injury, reducing him to a warm body with a pulse. In 2020 the injuries took a toll, he was IR'ed. By the time he made it back to the roster the season was over for New England.

He's one year rental, he's someone you should only re-sign for a one or two year deal. Given the state of the Rams roster and potential deep playoff run, Michel is a very good acquisition. You just need to cross your fingers and hope he stays healthy for an extended season run.

Good job by the Rams to get something done. They desperately needed another RB. I only wished it was done sooner. The first game is in 18 days.
