Basketball is what players do, not who they are. They are human beings who go through some very real mental and financial struggles after retirement. I hope he finds the necessary help. |

His teeth appeared like he's been doing a LOT of meth. I know he was diagnosed as being bipolar in the past. $19Million at an early age+Mental Health Issue+Probable drug habit...that ish can't possibly end well. _________________ KOBE

Most homelessness isn't about finances or rent costs. It is about mental illness or addiction. Sadly Delonte West is a perfect example of this. I hope he gets the help he needs. Government officials need to be held accountable for letting people with severe brain diseases live on the streets, instead of mental facilities where they could get the help they need. |

There were reports of him messed up since 2016. Either the guy can't be helped or he doesn't want help. _________________ Lakers. Built different. |

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29997795/dallas-mavericks-owner-mark-cuban-reaches-help-former-nba-player-delonte-west
Quote: | Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reaches out to help former NBA player Delonte West
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban picked up Delonte West at a Dallas gas station on Monday and is attempting to help the homeless former NBA player get his life back on track, Cuban confirmed to ESPN.
Sources close to West told TMZ that his family and friends have been trying to get West to go to a drug rehabilitation facility and that Cuban has offered to pay for his treatment.
Cuban is among several people involved in the NBA who in recent years have been attempting to help West, who publicly discussed his diagnosis of bipolar disorder during his NBA career. Cuban renewed those efforts after pictures circulated last week of West panhandling at an intersection in Dallas.
West, 37, averaged 9.7 points and 3.6 assists per game over eight NBA seasons while playing for four franchises. He last played for the Mavericks in 2011-12. |

As a fan of a team other than his, I used to find Mark and his crazy fanaticism very annoying. But then Ballmer came along...
Mark seems like a legit dude whose fortune hasn't had him lose sight of just being a good person in life and to society. |

Sad story, hope he takes up those offers of help to get off the streets and get the treatment he needs to live his life going forward. |

Bravo Mark Cuban. What a great person to actually do something and pick this guy up and help him.
As much as folks make fun of Cuban at time, he seems like a really good dude. |

Pretty darn great. I hope Delonte continues moving forward. |
Cuban is a awesome person, always takes care of his own players on the team and does the same for others. |

Turns out he's a mixed bag.
"Because they are a customer"
This is a terrible message to put out.
But definitely, good to his team and org generally. Props for Delonte. |

Delonte West working at drug rehab center he attended, source says
Quote: | Delonte West is now working at the drug rehabilitation center in Florida that he attended after Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban helped the former homeless NBA player get his life back on track, a source confirmed to ESPN.
West was treated at the Rebound therapy center in Florida. Cuban picked West up at a gas station last September after pictures circulated of him panhandling at an intersection in Dallas. Cuban also helped West to reconnect with his mother.
Cuban is among several people involved in the NBA who in recent years have been attempting to help West, who publicly discussed his diagnosis of bipolar disorder during his NBA career. |
