People are blaming AD for having 3 guys swarm to him every time?
Where's the coaching adjustment for movement off ball? Or spacing? Or anything?
They kept on doing the same predictable plays and AD had no one adjusting to help him out.
I have to agree here. And don't get me wrong. I thought Vogel did a great job of coaching two years ago. But he seems to have dropped off. It makes me wonder how much of an influence Jason Kidd and Lionel Hollins were having.
In the first half last night they were double and triple teaming him as soon as he had an opportunity. Someone mentioned the offensive glass, it was often AD vs. 3 or 4 Suns under the basket and if he got his hand on a ball it was getting stripped before he could do anything.
The adjustment in the second half was to get him the ball in a spot where he could immediately catch and shoot and then doing it without waiting. I think the Bulls came in with a good game plan. Lakers shot 18.8% from three.

The last 2 games had both Poeltl (SA) & Vuc (Chi) out to provide more 1on1 opportunities defenses throw at AD. I think that trend continues tonight with a Bucks team that doesn’t have BLo in the lineup.
Quote:
Sam Quinn: ESPN tracked 15 doubles on Davis for the night. That's the most of his career despite being ejected in the third quarter.
Defenses have thrown 11 hard double-teams at Anthony Davis in the post in the last two games, according to Synergy. Only nine other players in basketball have seen that many all season: Embiid (season leader with 40), KAT, Giannis, Valanciunas, KD, Domas, OG, Luka and Jokic.
But moving forward, this is going to be more of the Russ/THT pairing. If we go small with AD at center, then it’s going to be either Ellington, Monk, Nunn or Ariza (depending on the matchup) that join Bron/AD/Russ/THT in that lineup. AD is going to get blitzed with constant double teams with Bron/Ellington, Monk, Nunn or Ariza as the only capable floor spacers. Till THT proves otherwise expect more of the same even when we get fully healthy. We already know what Russ is, but if THT can’t hit that open 3ball at a higher clip, then our regular season record will continue to dip. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

I think AD is playing scared out there. He is playing cautious and not to get hurt. I think his goal is to survive the season and hopefully just limp in the playoffs.

and still got hurt. I'm glad he wasn't hurt too bad.
Giannis shouldn’t be scoring 47 points on a team that has AD.
Davis should be annoyed at that tbh. Looks like DPOY level play from AD ended in 2019-20.
Giannis was hitting shots he misses most nights. We could have done better on him, but if he’s swishing threes and knocking down off balance one footed fadeaways from 15 you just tip your cap. The weak side not tagging him on the pick and rolls where he got numerous easy finishes has to change, though.

That's the thing about AD. He should be annoyed, but he likely won't. At most it's just being annoyed on a surface level, he may piss and moan about it but won't really do much to dominate the next time they meet.
Anyway we knew what we were getting in AD, just didn't expect his prime to be gone so quickly. Yes he's physically still in his prime, but mentally he isn't.
I will give AD a pass cause he was hurt but don’t wanna ever see him shying away from the ball, not attacking Giannis or whoever defending h
, not crashing the board, watching the ball roll on front of him and not try to get it. Ask for the (bleep) ball and attack. He’s hurt tho so let’s just leave it at that

Eh, you game plan for making life tough for Giannis.
What’s the point of having Vogel if Giannis is going to go for 50. Imo it’s not even all Vogel, AD just doesn’t seem the be the same animal that Giannis is. Have some (bleep) pride and tell the coach you will neutralize Giannis…but AD runs away from these things like he runs away from the 5.
Never thought he would be satisfied with 1 ring as a second option
Going from Kobe to this softie is a real pain
Davis is very good but he doesn’t know how to lead a team to wins like Jokic/Embiid/PG13/ he could have had a good opportunity to get into the MVP conversations if he did a better job with this team without LeBron.

When PG13 is now mentioned as someone who knows how to lead teams to wins… _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Between Anthony Davis and Paul George.. no doubt Anthony Davis is the better player but right now Paul George is showing everyone that he can lead his team to wins without there best player.. Davis needs to start doing the same.

Was watching him down the stretch the other night and he is truly showing much better composure and confidence. Hated watching him make clutch passes and shots etc.. making steals and powering up defense when necessary..
Sports is Mental along with physical.. but the mind drives the body.. some of our players need Stuart Smalley
Till THT proves otherwise expect more of the same even when we get fully healthy.
He's looking good so far 8/20 (40%) since he returned and several of those were off the dribble or step back threes. He looks like he put in some work in the off season. Seems confident. We'll see if he can keep that up as the season goes on.

Even if he can't, our 3 point shooters are all hit and miss. Meaning, one game they're on. Great. Next game, off. Uh oh. Yet we still rely on them like they are our 3rd superstar. So it's AD/WB and now the 3 ball. So teams double AD, they know WB is only able to score in the paint, and they challenge our shooters to make 3s. When we make them, at a high clip, we win. When we're average or not good from 3, we lose, and can lose badly.
Now you flip that to same scenario with AD/WB. Only Lebron is one of the 3 point shooters. And THT is the other. Maybe Melo, until Ariza comes. Now, you got 3 guys that will take the 3 , but can also fake the 3 or create more than just the 3. In Lebron's case, he can literally take the game over by himself. It's really a (bleep) show right now, and not even close to what it could be.
