It's not AD, it's the players around him.

Yea hard to play D when you're sharing the court with Rondo/WB/Monk/Melo... The combination of Rondo/WB/Melo line up is probably the worst net rating combo we have.

i'm so disappointed in AD, he soft as hell. can you even imaging if this was 12-13 years ago when he had to go up against KG, Kendrick Perkins, Big Baby Davis and those rough and tough Celtic teams? wow i can't imagine what would happened, AD probably tweaked his ankle and done for the year.

at this rate, i won't be mad if they ship AD out to Chicago for Zach Lavine and future 1st round pick. i don't think AD can fetch us Dame as of right now.

You play with what the rules allow. It's like saying how Steph, KD and Klay would have been physically crippled playing against the Piston bad boys.

Or

KG, Perkins, Big Baby would be non-factors playing in todays spread offense. Rick MaHorn and Bill Laimbeer would be 15 minute bench players at best.

Just a reminder amidst all the bizarre AD hate... He's averaging 28.4 points (#4), 11.6 rebounds (#6), 2.6 assists (#9 among PFs), 2.4 blocks (#4), and 0.6 steals.

If that disappoints you, then your expectations are too high.

empty stats, his body language on the court speaks volume, the guy is just not into it. numbers are good but he shrinks when it matters the most.

I noticed those numbers too. You would think if the team played some D around AD we would be 4-1 and everyone has a different tune on those AD numbers.

We have to step up our D around him. You have two gigs that defend. The perimeter guys have really let this team down outside of Bazemore. Literally everyone else from Westbrook, Melo, Rondo, Monk …. Just can’t stay with their man and it’s so obvious on the matchups they’re trying to cheat on D.

Anthony Davis is the funniest mf to listen to in interviews.....

"I need to do this....."

"The team needs to do that....."

"The team and I know I'm the defensive anchor...."

Then be it and stop talking about it because the truth is is that you've been lazy and complacent ever since you won a chip. Be about it and stop talking about it. And while you're at it, shoot more jump hooks than long jumpers. More curls and less bong hits. More biceps and less hips. More KG and you'd be the most dominant player in the game.

Shut your ass up, play hard, and we can't be beat.

He played great defense and didn’t settle for jumpers this game. I have no idea what people want him to be.

Yeah...and we won. I'm talking about the totality of this season and last plus his lame redundant coach-speak in interviews.

"I have no idea what people want him to be?"

How about be consistent with your effort. Let's start with that.

I saw consistent effort, including the block to seal the game. You looking at box scores son?

Do you know what the word "totality" means or what?

Also, reading comprehension. Get some.

Foul trouble tonight reason he was not being aggressive. But late in the 3rd when picking up his 4th was no longer concern he turned it on defensively all the way to the end.

Would you rather him not take responsibility or talk like a leader in post game interviews?

AD is starting to concern me. Not often aggressive, missing lots of shots, fairly slow. He's still amazing of course, but I hope he's just marathoning.

AD at the center this game and we saw against the Cavs Friday how the Cavs were held to 16 4th quarter points and this game the best defensive game of the season.

I am wondering if Vogel will now do permanently start him at center or not

Zero chance imo but i'm sure he'd absolutely love to. It's pretty obvious to everyone we're a drastically better team when he's at the 5 but if AD doesn't want to start consistently in the regular season he wont, period. I would like to see them try and do it a bit more often though especially against centers that can't take him down low at all. Some of these stints when DJ is in the game feels like we're playing with 1 hand tied behind our back and then everything goes back to looking drastically better once he exits again.

It would also give the guards some more playing time which is going to get even more crowded real soon with Nunn and THT especially coming back.
