“Majoring in the minor” is true. He nailed it with that part.

You can surround those guys with Aminu/Danny Green(if he’s willing to come here on a discount) and DeMarre Carroll

Because we’re just swimming in alternatives that are so much better than a LeBron/Kyrie-led team (who beat the best regular season team in history for the title btw) right?

Obviously you’d prefer Kawhi or KD but it’s laughable that anyone would turn down Kyrie especially given the state of this franchise.

post any juicy tidbits if he drops anything

Quickest summary: The door went from “cracked open”, to the door is open.

Sounds like there is already a commitment unless he somehow changes his mind when we get closer to FA.

LOVE Kyrie's game and have followed him throughout his career. I think he would be a great player for the Lakers but I'm just not sure how he would work with the current team.

If we get Kyrie, then IMO, we have to go all in for AD

Kyrie
(Josh Hart/Reggie Buckets)
LBJ
AD
(Wagner/athletic Big)

So in a span of 6 hours Windhorst went from the door is bolted down to the door is cracked open to the door is literally now open for Kyrie to be a Laker?

July can’t come fast enough!

that 2016 Cavs team was pretty good defensively when it counts. it's a scoring league right now, why keep stuck in the past and bring up defense. any NBA athlete can be a decent defender if he wants to be. defense mostly is about effort, if your team has something to play for, watch them all of sudden become pretty solid defensively.

It’s possible LeBron already talked with Irving when the Celtics got bounced a few days ago.

Hold on a sec....

So if a young All-Star who just turned 27 only a month ago decided to join the Lakers despite all the dysfunctional crap that’s been going on in the freaking front office, there are Lakers fans who would say “thanks, but no thanks”?

Stay classy whomever you guys are.

In theory, Kyrie is the type of player who was born to play for the Lakers in the spotlight of LA. The aesthetically pleasing nature of his game, clutch factor, and he's a natural in front of the camera. The flip side is that he's so quirky and seems to love inciting drama, but that could describe a lot of past Laker greats. I just worry that it could be an adding more oil to the fire scenario with how much of a (bleep) show we already are right now. Beyond that, do you trust his knees and overall health?

He's only 27, but has played more than 70 games in a regular season just 3 times in 8 seasons. Also, injuries knocked him out of 2 of the 5 postseasons he played in. So at this point, he's just not someone you can rely on to be consistently healthy for most of an entire season, including playoff run.

I really do like him as a player, don't even mind the drama much, but given how many injury prone players we already have in our core, I'd be very concerned about using up our max slot on him and then effectively being locked into this squad for a few years barring a miracle trade for AD. And frankly he doesn't bring the strong two-way impact when healthy, like a Kawhi or Jimmy Butler, to even justify the risk.

Of course if he's the best we can do this summer, so be it - I obviously wouldn't say no to a star of his caliber signing here with all the (bleep) we've gone through to get to this point, desperate times and all. But I'd be uneasy until any of these guys outside of Lebron can prove they can stay healthy.

Have you seen his injury history? Did you see him quit on his team after game 2? Do you hear the rumors of how unhappy he always is? You have to look at more than just age & allstar appearances.

No best case is Kawhi signing here.

No that will have us looking vulnerable like the warriors when Davis goes down. The talent will be deep without Davis

Would love to look like how the Warriors are looking today, without KD.

Exactly, you bring in a guy like that to an atmosphere where the turbulence is already extremely high and you better hope we don't struggle much because it can get even more toxic then it currently is real quick as hard as that is to believe.

I don't see how anyone can think Kyrie is the best case though? Kawhi, Durant, Klay and to a much lesser extent even Butler are probably better options then him. With him we'd have every impact player on the team with injury concerns and our top 2 guys can go Nuclear and cause extreme drama at any time and it would not be out of the norm whatsoever.

If it did happen i'd just hope for the best since we could obviously do worse but it's far from my ideal summer. With Jeanie in charge I guess I should start getting more used to much lower standards it seems.

It’s legitimately amazing to me that we’ve literally been the worst team in the NBA over the past six years and there are fans that are poking holes in a hypothetical LeBron/AD/Kyrie core.
