Its clearly time to sell the team, we’ve hit rock bottom
Lakers is Buss family's main cash cow, despite the recent down years, profits are rolling in mainly from the TW TV deal. i doubt the Buss family sell the team now.
well I hear the Buss kids dont get "that much" in their pockets each year. Seems like being able to cash out and get a huge lump sum to split between all of them should be very enticing to many of them. And they can still hold a small % of the Lakers just to feel like they are still connected.
a billboard campaign in and around LA to point this out is in order
Does Linda Rambis have a page in the team's official media guide? If not, then the org should set the record straight and put her in there so that everyone knows what the deal is. Is her title "Shadow Owner"? Or something else?
But we don't need well-respected basketball people like Jerry West or anything. Nah.
Jeanie Buss should be asked about this the next time she's interviewed and she should speak forthrightly about it. What exactly is the role of Linda Rambis, and how much power does she wield in the org? Lakers fans who are being asked to invest their time and money have a right to know, certainly the high-paying customers at Staples Center whose ticket prices were just raised.
perfect scenario this off season for the Buss ownership:
Rambis as head coach
Dr. Buss' statue as president of basketball operation
move team back to the Forum to soak in that old time Laker tradition
get rid of analytic team, and hire more cheerleaders
bring back gary vitti as head trainer
hold audition for chick hearn voice-alike for our next TV play-by-play guy
The truth is I'm not pleased with Jeannie Buss's performance as an owner. Most losses in the last 6 years in the entire NBA.
But I'm also not trusting of reporters, especially outsiders professing to know the inner workings of the organization and "anonymous sources". The Lakers have a lot of enemies.
Both can be true at the same time. This Linda thing is a non-story imo. There are a LOT of teams who have a clear motive to paint the Lakers in a bad light going into this summer, which is a pivotal one for laying the landscape of the NBA for the next 5 or more years.
Seriously curious, besides being smart to attach herself to rich Jeanie's hip at 24 yo, what are Linda's accomplishments in the basketball world or general business world? In other words, what does Linda's resume look like?
Jeanie (through Ramona) is trying to turn this into a sexism issue, when the issue is that Linda Rambis hasn't done a damn thing to merit the kind of responsibility she's been given. Not only that, but her friendship with Jeanie has allowed her husband to get a role within the organization, and Kurt Rambis hasn't done anything particularly well in his post-basketball career.

A story driven by Amin Elhassan and Ramona Shelburne? Lol.
That being said, it’d be a joke if Linda Rambis actually has power. Rejecting someone like Jerry West in favor of your best friend is a recipe for mediocrity.

National Media always reports nonsesne about the Lakers, nothing new. _________________ "What makes you think a bartender is stupid or incapable of scouting?" ~ Rick12322
"Shadow owner" is such a dope title though. Thoughts of the shadow beings from the movie "us" comes to mind, or shadow from the sonic games, or that shadow creature lady melisandre gives birth to on game of thrones.

Made me think of Inspector Gadget's Dr. Claw. Linda Rambis petting a cat and doing an evil laugh when Magic stepped down.

And for it was written that when the moon is full on the third cycle of the blood year, an eclipse shall befall the world and darkness shall consume all beings, not just in worldly things, but in spirit and soul. And a great sadness shall curse all creatures, then terror, and finally a pain unlike any other. And of this pain, the greatest evil ever known shall arise to reign over all mortals. And his name was THE SHADOW OWNER.
This is a rumor someone would start if they thought the owner was an insecure narcissist in order to get Linda fired because she was getting too much credit.
