watched the first 6 or so episodes of Them on Amazon prime. I enjoyed it at first but its getting increasingly annoying on how disjointed it is with trying to combine horror with a family dealing with the racial issues in LA. I applaud them for the ambition of going that route but it rarely works and feels like two different shows are going on. Im hoping it all ties in more coherently by the end of this season.

Keep your eyes out for Gaslit coming to Starz at some point early/mid 2022. It's a Watergate story based John and Martha Mitchell. For those that may not recognize the names, Mitchell was Nixon's Attorney General leading into the Watergate break in. The story focuses on the relationship between he and his wife, who was a real firecracker who spoke her mind. As she becomes aware of what is going on in the administration, the people around her start to gaslight her and go to great lengths in an effort to keep her quiet.

It stars Sean Penn and Julia Roberts and they are both fantastic. Also Dan Stevens (Downtown Abbey) as John Dean with Betty Gilpin (one of my favorites) as his wife and Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire) in a great portrayal of G. Gordon Liddy. It's directed by Matt Ross (Gavin Belson on Silicon Valley).

I watched a final Producer's Cut of the pilot episode with my wife, who produced it, and it's spectacular on every level - from performances to production design and everything in between. And I say that even if my wife wasn't involved (though I am quite proud of what she did with an almost impossible task).

This finally has an air date—Sun. April 24th

I've just become aware of Greenleaf. It's into its 5th season. It's plot uncovers religious corruption. On 1 to 10, I rate it 8.

Odd. My friend and I were talking about Greenleaf, a series he turned me onto this morning. He said after I finish it to watch Top Boy. I'll give it a peek. I pulled it up on my IPTV and saw it's into season 4.

First two seasons are Topboy: Summerhouse. This is the beginning it’s very raw and low budget. Still very good…but the new refunded seasons and executive produced by Drake are absolutely amazing. I’m glad I watched Summerhouse first but you can do the 2 Netflix ones first and then the prelude. Up to you.

Has anyone else checked out "100 Foot Wave" on HBO?

I thought it was pretty well done and I really was amazed by the crazy big waves and the wild men and women who ride them.

Tokyo Vice: The drop-off from gorgeously filmed episode #1 to expensive blah tv show in episode #2 is painful. I thought Mann was only a producer, but watching the 1st episode even before I became aware Mann had directed it offered up distinctive, gritty/beautiful city image after image...which isn't well sustained in episodes #2 and #3.

Anyway, the pilot for this series is some of the best work Mann has ever done. Watch the 1st episode at least.

High praise. Gonna make a note to watch that pilot.

I just rewatched season 5 of Better Caul Saul on Netflix. Really a great season. The sixth season (part 1) begins on April 18th.

Another great show with nary a mention herein: Severance, on Apple TV. This is high quality SciFi, and though hardly a typical concept, it has subtext as is typical in SciFi. While it starts out slow, it is always interesting as we learn more and more about the phenomenon and its effects that is the centerpiece of the show, and gets better with just about each episode. And there will be a season 2, no doubt.

I'm not a fan of Ben Stiller as an actor or comedian, but he is proving his chops as a director.

I started off re-watching Seasons 4 & 5 but ended up re-watching Seasons 1-3 as well. I'm glad I did as I'd forgotten so much stuff that happened in the series.
