This live rendition of You Don't Know me by Ray Charles. If you have ever fallen in love with a friend and they didn't know, this song will reach you. _________________ http://chickhearn.ytmnd.com/

Psychedelic doom boogie? Sounds good enough for me though I won't be offended if another description comes to mind.
The band? TK & The Holy Know-Nothings.

Nice! I listened to the live version with the Hammond which I slightly preferred. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

This is neither a Jam nor a Bop. Just a short piece of gorgeous music with a guitar and a piano.
Because sometimes, short and seemingly simple is spot on.

Ok, back to jams. This one's even got a brief bass solo.

Good News by the late Mac Miller.
What a talent this kid was, didn't even make it to the 27 Club as he passed away at Age 26.
I miss this guy....

They're back: Alsion Krauss and Robert Plant. Scroll down bit from this link for two really good new songs with a very cool guitar. Twang!

It's late June, 2009. The Lakers have just won the championship and it seems like the entire west coast is pulsating with electricity. You rolled 20-deep to Vegas in a caravan of co-workers, strangers, and friends, all young, fit, single, and uninhibited. This group includes 2 crushes, and you don't know it yet, but one of them is your future wife. You don't know how this trip is going to go, but it's been exciting thus far. Bonds are forming, sparks are flying, and everyone is having a blast. Your group shares a penthouse suite at Caesar's where you pregame it and dance before hitting the PURE night club. O'Shea's and Imperial Palace are still on the strip, right there on the curb. The world still has Michael Jackson in it for another 48 hours. Most people still don't have a smartphone. Facebook is still just roommates and friends. President Obama's first few months are going great and the future is bright. In the next couple of years, top 40 and rap are phased out of large night club set lists in favor of EDM. You all get gussied up, do shots, and then take the elevator down to the casino floor. You walk over to the club, buzzing, having a wild time. A promoter gets your group through the rope. You get your hand stamped. Your boy who knows about your crushes puts his arm around you, pulls you in close, and shouts in your ear: "SHE LIKES YOU BACK, DUDE!"
"....which one?!?!?!"
"........."
The DJ thumps this song and it sets the tone for the rest of that night, and your life...

I have never been a fan of hers, at all. I don't dislike her...was just never into her. When this song was big, I hated it. But hearing it now? boom. I'm in summer of 09. _________________ http://chickhearn.ytmnd.com/

Was watching a couple of Season 5s from The Sops. They played a 1 sec blurb from Greg Kihn's "The Breakup Song".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmyidCAFMtg
That's one I remember being on a lot when it was newish, but one of those 80s songs that doesn't immediately conjure up memories of the popular synthpop stuff from the early 80s that stations like Jack FM still play. EG: A song like "Always Something There To Remind Me" is an 80s song the kind that has always been in rotation on those kinds of stations. Otoh, more prog or less obvious songs that were hella played in the day (e.g. "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" and "One Thing Leads To Another"), kinda fell by the wayside in reflection. Kihn's other hit "(Our Love's In) Jeopardy" is similarly lost, even tho parodied by Weird Al "(I Lost On) Jeopardy". The kids in the comments for that one by Al gotta ask what the song he's parodying is.
Another one that recently sent me to a warp zone was "Mirror Man" by The Human League. That was one of those songs you completely forgot existed for years until you were reminded of it and some dusty neuron still had that sucker stored. It was played in the "Ridgemont" attempted sequel called "The Wild Life" (1984) w/ Chris Penn/Stoltz. I suspect that Stoltz and Lea Thompson were seen in that and considered for "BTTF 1" before Eric was to be fired. His sensibility from "The Wild Life" was much more serious than the one from "Fast Times." He looked more like Crispin Glover than MJF, but I've never heard anything more re: his replacement besides him not being able to convey "teenager" to their liking. And, yet again, he did "Mask" in 85, so Iono. "The Wild Life" is of the few movies that has never been transferred from VHS, prolly due to some of the music rights(?) I got a rip. Written by Cameron Crowe, but weaker than his other stuff, however, a dude flick. Human League's best song, their other two hits are annoyingly repetitive to me, especially "Keep Feeling Fascination". Instant channel changer.

In the late '80s someone pumped out an "Alvin & The Chipmunks" cassette tapes of '80s new-wave and pop hits.
30 years later some guy found it, slowed it to 1/16th speed, and revealed what was secretly the most important postpunk/goth album ever recorded:
