Why would Houston do it? |
Considering the money and contract length are the same. Houston isn't even letting Wall play. May as well pay and get some sort of return.
Houston has nothing to lose, neither do the Lakers. |
Funny how Rockets are now mentioned as a trade partner lol |

@logic: I’m just giving you a hard time, but you can get on a 3way with the Pels to have ‘em ease up off those deferment conditions. It’s just that we would be further exhausting our resources just to move off of Russ.
I don’t believe the Pels would ease off the 2024/2025 deferment option unless it’s for an additional sure fire 1st round pick.
For example, outside the deferment option towards 2024/25, we still owe them a 2022 1st & a 2023 pick swap. The simplest thing to do is we could arrange another pick swap of 2025 and in doing so remove that deferment option off that pick. We would then have our 2026 1st to openly trade away along with our 2028 pick and can still sweeten the pot with a 2027 pick swap.
So what gets the Pels to do that for us? Possibly multiple 2nd round picks in addition to the 2027 pick swap that I mentioned above.
So net: they get a 2025 (and possibly a 2027) pick swap in addition to multiple 2nd round picks.
We would then get the option to trade our 2026 1st back at this year’s trade deadline. FYI we always had the option of trading our 2028 1st, but could not combine it with our 2027 1st (Stepien rules forbid consecutive future 1sts being traded). So if we can get back the option of trading our 2026 1st, we can also attach our 2028 1st to that package.
Hope that clears up any confusion with why our 2027 1st was the first available 1st rounder we could trade away (ie the deferment option on our 2025 1st blocked our ability to trade our 2026 1st). _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

Look at the age and the fact that he’s trending towards all star status as proven by last year if it doesn’t work out he can easily be dangled for another good player that will fit |

Cap is slang to indicate that someone is lying and not telling the truth. On social media, the blue cap emoji (🧢) is used to signify that. It is relative to the phrase “no cap. Definition: No cap means "no lie."

Example: Logic called me a goat…I called 🧢

Another example: Some hopeful fans believe we can trade Russ for Simmons…our more cynical fan base calls 🧢 _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

Eat crow post by me. Sounds like Rockets would possibly consider a RW/Wall trade assuming draft capital is there. |

Yes. People need to stop hoping this happens. You want to see a worse player than Westbrook? Here he is. And he will probably get hurt. _________________ “You can't be held captive by the fear of failure or the fear of what people may say.” - Kobe Bryant |

Why would the Lakers attach any assets with Westbrook to get John Wall when they have identical contracts?
Unless others players are involved, doesn’t make any sense to do that.
Lakers should move whatever assets necessary to get Ben Simmons. Needs to be a 3 or 4 team blockbuster. |

Something I failed to mention before - if the Lakers were able to make it worth the Pelicans' while to remove the 2025 optionality on the pick that the Pels can either accept in 2024 or defer a year, the Lakers could then trade two picks now (2026 & 2028) instead of just 2027.
This is good info Could Westbrook/2026/2028 be a better deal to get rid of? |
What do we have to give to the Pelicans? _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

John Wall for Westbrook is being idiotic!!
There is no benefit to either team.
Stupid idea wherever this came from. |

My guess would be a young player or multiple second round picks. |

Orlando looks better with Windell Carter on the floor. I think they would part ways with Mo Bamba, who is a restricted free agent this summer. |

And if you watch enough Orlando basketball; Bamba is a blocker but
very clumsy, but you'd have to watch.

I know Wall by himself is not a going to help but what if taking on his contract helps get Jerami Grant?
Lakers get: Wall, Grant
Detroit gets: THT and Gordon
Houston gets: Westbrook and Olynyk
Salaries work but Detroit could probably do better. |
