That's all true, but we would (a) give up THT, Nunn, and most likely Reaves and/or draft picks, and (b) add salary and thus luxury tax (someone like V+ can do the math and probably already has). As Wolf points out, we would be paying around $140M to four players. Is the benefit this season likely to be enough to make it worthwhile? It's a fair question, and the answer may be No. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

Dear Lakers. Please do not entertain any thoughts of re-signing WB. It’s a sunk cost. |

I'll tell you, I've never thought about avoiding the team for a season or anything but if they resign Russ....It's going to be a consideration.
I always give the team the benefit of the doubt. When they got Russ I thought to myself that they must know something I dont know. They know he'll adjust his game. They know he will play a very specific role of rebounding, and driving for a lay up or kicking it out. they must know. God, what a disaster.
I acknowledge this isn't all on Russ but resigning him would really test my patience with this organization. |

Cuz they borderline have quit on Frank? |

AD’s injury and Westbrook’s fit proving to be a disaster is a lot more problematic |

Kinda amusing that we managed to get worse over the stretch of games we deliberately cut down on turnovers. |

That's an issue that has recently concerned me more than it has in the past.
I've always broken down defense (for an individual or a team) into three components: Basketball IQ, natural ability, and effort.
With Vogel at the helm and experienced vets as our captains (Lebron and AD), I'm not too concerned with BBiQ. I mean, we were a top defensive squad for the last two years for a reason, and those three were a major reason why.
Natural ability took a strong hit as a team this season due to a bizarre indifference of not having enough defensive forwards with size (adios Kuzma and M. Morris) as well as injuries to who we had left for those slots. In theory, that will resolve itself as players get healthy and if we make a decent trade by the deadline to address the imbalance on the roster.
It's the lack of effort on the defensive end lately that has been appalling. For instance, Denver had a ton of open shots and a number of Lakers simply weren't trying to do much about it. I know Vogel cares about defense, but maybe the team is more numb to him than what we've seen the last two years.
I mean, health and roster issues aren't in the players' control, and the leaders are good at teaching basic defensive principals that need to be followed. However, effort definitely is in a player's control, and we're not seeing much passion these days to stop the enemy ball from going into the basket. Hopefully things get better in this area before it gets worse. |

I've completely checked out of these games unless and until they change things up, but even then I have no illusions about them winning a single playoff series, even if they escape the play-in. Watching Lakers games this year is like the definition of insanity. |

Difference in the strength of schedule is one reason. Poor defense on three pointers is another. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Yup, just like how they gave up a first for DS and then didn't resign him. It's far too familiar. They were handing out frp like candies until they don't have anymore. Now, no one will trade with them because they don't have any more frp to give away.
WB's contract was double, triple, double triple bad because not only did it cost us a frp, we now have a huge toxic contract that we can't move in order to improve the team this year and next year.

Why I’m concerned is that they gave Dennis a 84m extension offer. I can see them doing something like 3 years, 70m or something crazy like that. |

The fact this ownership is still paying Luel Deng speaks how cheap and nickel and dime they are when it comes to comes to saving to few bucks. Time to sell the damn team already. |

According to a certain poster, it usually means something big is about to go down. |

I don't even look forward to watching games anymore. If I have nothing better to do I'll watch the game but usually fall asleep during the game. I've never fallen asleep on a Lakers game ever in my life, but I've done it quite a bit this season.
They really need to shake things up otherwise it's going to hurt their precious ticket sales. |
