Ben is another one of those guys that needs the ball in his hands
to create for others given he can't shoot. This adds pressure for
LeBron to be a jump shooter but he's a playmaker and a good slasher.
Lakers need a backup PF, (you can count on AD getting hurt) and
a good 3&D long SF. Our SG's & PG's need to make their shots (ala Monk). THT and RW are almost the same animal statistically speaking. THTR should come off the bench and WR should...don't know, not be there, LOL.
The idea of playing LeBron all over the court (PF, C) is crazy, the man
is 37 y.o. and has played 19 seasons in the NBA; do we really need to drive him into the ground? And then recognize what we've done?
Anyway, just my O. |
Simmons can't shoot but he's crafty on offense like grabbing offensive rebounds and finishing at the rim. His size would dominate most small ball lineups in today's NBA. Simmons could obviously run the offense while Lebron rests.
He's a fantastic defender in his prime. That's what we need just like during our championship run: just good shutdown team defense while Lebron took care of most of the scoring. |
All true. I still think we need what I mentioned above with more reasonable contracts. Ben is a disconnect between his income and output or he would already have been traded for; still can happen of course.
You forgot to mention that Ben is young and could fill a LeBron "like" role
once LeBron tips his hat out. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

Williams is a hustle guy. On 3pt average; I'm always a little suspicious of guys that can't hit FT but for now hit the long ball. The guy does bring some 6'6" hustle. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

I think a Simmons trade isn’t as unlikely as we think.
It just depends if we’re willing to take on Tobias |

This team is miles from contention, but people want to ship out remaining assets for a rental? |
Haha, you still left one forecast out... the L.A. Lakers are the 2022 World Champions! I still hold out a remnant of hope as we approach the trade deadline.
In seriousness, there are qualifiers for why each of those positions were taken by me. Bazemore was top three for the Warriors last season according to some of their fans, who played great D and came up clutch offensively a number of times. He has a long, athletic body despite only being 6'4", so for the low $$$ I was optimistic about his impact for us.
The case for Ariza was similar. I watched a lot of Heat games and highlights where Ariza was very impressive with his on ball defense. I know the wheels for the elderly fall off sometime, but at least we had recent history showing that we may get one solid year from him. This was a particularly strong hope because Pelinka signed so few true forwards... hoping for a great Ariza (who has legit size) was trying to get something good out of a bad situation.
My wife will tell you that I complain all the time for years at how brittle AD is. WIth that said, like Charlie Brown and Lucy playing football I always hope this is when he'll finally keep it together health wise. He goes on to get injured not once but twice in his last game. Still, there's nothing that can be done but continue to hope for the best this season. He helped us get a ring, and for that I'll always be grateful.
I've always liked THT, but I only hoped his game would take off on its natural arc for us (which can still happen since he is so young) after Rob didn't take my advice and trade him for a bigger wing in Reddish during the summer when Atlanta dangled him (THT wasn't resigned yet, so it would've been legal). Once that fell through, the only natural thing to do is root for THT since only today is he eligible to be traded. I have no regrets in how I handled this one.
I'm not sure I could've approached the WB signing much differently. Like many I felt acquiring him wasn't the best use of managing our pieces in a trade, especially since I've always devalued the role of point guard in general when going for a championship. Still, once the deal is made, I'm going to give it a chance and root for success.
You'd think that Vogel, Lebron and AD could reign Westbrook in, and they have to some extent, but he's still not close to being consistently good for our team. Success with him hasn't happened, so now it is on the coaching staff to do the right thing which I advocated for since Game #1 this year: bringing him off the bench to run the 2nd unit.
My main take away after all of this is unchanged though. The Lakers' collective team health is our main problem. Defense is our second main problem due in large part to roster construction (too many smalls, not enough forwards). The third worst aspect of our team is the lack of passion from AD to be great again. Next up is WB's poor play. None of what is on the list above is more important than that. |

Isn’t Cuffs Brons burner account?
Turner is growing more on me
Lakers can only make one move not two
If they could trade WB they could make two moves
Vogel is a defensive coach
His whole scheme relies on hulking rim protection centers
Bron and AD can play forward |

How do you have the nerve to support a guy that says life is bigger then basketball when we’re trying to win a championship? LeBron can pack his bags before the trade deadline along with Westbrook if he’s gonna continue being attached to this idiot. |
You didn't see what happened with Doc Rivers and Joel Embiid did to Ben Simmons? |
If Simmons was acting and saying the things Westbrook has he would have been crucified by Doc Rivers and the Sixers... the same way the Lakers should do with Westbrook only difference is Simmons can actually make a major Impact right now compared to Westbrook so they can drag this out as long as they want. |
Because the Sixers handled their situation so well? And it’s not drawn out? |
Russ isn’t causing any problems with the team, he’s an
ultimate competitor. He’s fed up with the press, big difference. |
If what you said is true then he would have used what the press is doing to him and use it as a motivation instead he isn’t, he’s costing us games right now which in it self means that he is in fact causing problems with the team. |
Just stop posting, bro.
You're comparing a player struggling on the court vs one who flat out REFUSES to play and completely QUIT on his team. |
He’s doing exactly what you just mentioned but in a way that he’s actually playing that was my whole point lol |

Russ, to his credit, has bricked a ton of layups but won’t shy from taking them (and he shouldn’t).
Ben missed some open layups, then passed up a wide open one, and then retired from the sport.
Huge difference. |

If true, I have to believe it’s for Grant. Different reporters have eluded to this all season, including Eric Pincus. |

I think it would be waste of assets. Isn't he coming back after the all Star game? |

Simmons would have been playing right now if the Sixers FO weren’t so adamant on getting a major haul for him, Westbrook is collecting 44M right now of course he isn’t gonna retire from the sport |

Looks like Spurs are shopping Poeltl.
He would be a great trade target for the Lakers. A legitimate 12/ 9/ 1.5 blocks a game starting C to play alongside Davis and get James back to the perimeter.
Likely too expensive though at about $9m. It would cost THT or a Nunn package.
Or I can just keep dreaming the impossible dream…. Trade WB! |

Lakers Supply
@LakersSupply
According to Jared Dudley in his latest podcast, he said AD called him and asked how he was able to drop 20 pounds with the same MCL injury. Could mean we’re getting a slimmed up AD back
Could mean AD wants to go back to PF and LeBron back to SF or PG. Man imagine a line up like this:
LeBron
Monk
Grant
AD
Dwight |

You forget the Laker tax always imposed by Pops. To get Poeltl, it'll cost us THT, Nunn, Monk, AR-15, a first round pick, two second rounders, and a pack of Now Laters. |
