Are we gonna do this every time Hield, KCP, Caruso, Kuzma, Randle, BI, Nance, Clarkson, Lonzo, Lopez, or D'lo have a good game? |
Unfortunately I have a feeling it will continue. |

So did the pelicans. Boston turned down a trade of Randle for Avery Bradley and they offered clarkson and Randle for Paul George. The sin was not letting him walk it was having Luke Walton as a coach. Almost every young player got better after him |

Shhhhh......don't need to dig too deep into the mess, blaming the FO is the obvious way to go. When our players play a below average game, it's the FO's fault. If our players decided to walk away, it's also our FO's fault. Just blame it all on them and it will makes you feel way better. |

Doesn't matter what other franchises do. We should aspire to be smarter/better than the Pelicans.
Asset management is crucial to success in sports and Rob hasn't been much better than Magic was at it (and he was horrible at it). It's not a question of "well did we win a chip or not?" Lakers are about multiple chips, and letting an asset walk out the door can be a difference in whether you're a dynasty or a one-off. |

The new additions from last season Gasol, DS, Harrell and Matthews are all gone from the team this season. Is it normal to sign guys for one season and then let them go? I mean how obvious should it be that Rob is an incompetent GM? What more does Jeanie want to see? |
Do you realize how stupid you sound with the Lakers coming off a championship like a year ago |

Preach....
This is why nearly every fan of other teams hate Laker fans far and away the most. We were Champions almost exactly one year ago and were a top Contender and likely to win it all last season if both of our Superstars weren't hobbled or completely out the entire stretch run and Playoffs. We come back this season as top Contenders again but our FO should be completely dismantled and fired! |

Would it have made sense to give him the contract he wanted just to back up LeBron? |
Or just S&T him for assets/draft picks. |
No one offered him the money he wanted, and he wouldn't sign a bad deal just to help the Lakers get assets.
LakerMindLA wrote: | How about you give him two options.
1) Play for the qualifying offer (what is so bad about that for the Lakers?)
2) Hold onto his RFA right and offer him the max he could get on the open market (which was the MLE). |
Randle and his agent would give us a counteroffer...he holds out all summer, taking up his $12.5 million cap hold (a la Marcus Smart), preventing that money from being used in free agency. Rondo likely goes elsewhere, and LeBron/Rich Paul feel as though we aren't doing everything to build the team around our new franchise cornerstone.
Playing under the QO limits a player's trade value, any team acquiring him knows he would be UFA that summer, so couldn't that team just wait? Moreover, the player also gets a no-trade clause for that year before his unrestricted free agency. I'm not even sure if any team acquiring such a player would even get Bird Rights. |

Respect is different from love. Anyway, you're picking a handful of quotes from fans reacting to Westbrook's farewell message. |
There's alot more threads like that.
I'm heading to work but a 2 second google search got me this thread.

Alot of Wiz fans use the word love. Including Bill Simmons buddy. The one who routes for the Wiz every year. I think his name is Joe House. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

watching the Nuggets Suns game last night made me depressed. those teams are playing the modern style of basketball, constant ball movement and cutting, no hesitation when shooting didn't matter who the shooter is. then look at the Lakers, other than fast breaking, half court offense is cringe to watch, no spacing, like someone mentioned, it's like taking turn going 1 vs 1 while the other 4 standing with their hands down. |

Sure. We're not functioning well at the moment. But even when we get the offense in sync, we won't function like some of those other teams. We have a lineup based on two, and hopefully three, superstars. We need to play to the strengths of our roster. We need to find a way to move the ball more, but we're still going to be iso heavy compared to other teams. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

Not sure why you would be depressed. Pretty much the expected offense from the day they signed James. And adding Westbrook and Anthony was going to change it?
Great players make great plays. Once they start becoming less then great is where the issues start. James is an all time great, but we have seen what happens when he leaves the floor with every team he has from formed. They struggle.
Westbrook is the same type of player, just less efficient. That is why so far it looks so disjointed on offense. Mr Triple Double looks lost without the ball in his hands and the freedom to play recklessly.
Honestly, the best solution may to stagger James and turn Westbrook into a sixth man role. Together is a waste of talent. |

I was very skeptical of the WB trade, but, admittedly, it's only been one game. The turnover on this team was significant and it's going to take some time for them to gel--I don't think we can truly judge this team until about 15-20 games in. Some may point to the 19/20 squad, but that, to me, is the exception not the rule. There were some positives and some negatives, let's be patient. |

I mean if Vogel is going to play Russ as a SG who plays offball and ends up taking spot up shots, then yeah maybe we should’ve traded for an actual SG who plays off ball and is an actual spot up shooter. _________________ |

Russ makes more sense if LBJ intended to cut down his workload.
If he's going to play 35 minutes per game because he feels better that way (Statpad) then LBJ should have gone with Hield/KCP/Caruso
Where Russ will come in handy is if LBJ gets hurt along the way.
So we are essentially paying for a 40 million dollar spare tire.
If LBJ stays healthy all season, I'm not sure what was the point |

You can plug Lebron, Davis, Harden, Jokic, Durant ANYWHERE and you’d see beautiful basketball. You need to specifically cater to Westbrook’s games due to his massive flaws. Houston had to trade away their center so they could open the paint for Westbrook. What other “all time great” requires that much maintenance? Embiid punishes teams in the paint yet he developed his shooting and face-up game to accommodate for Simmons. Amazing that Westbrook never developed his game, on the contrary, his shooting and defense got worse at the expense of OMFGTRIPLEDOUBLES. _________________ If Brandon Knight were to come out, I would take him number 1 in the draft. - Magic Johnson Mar 27, 2011

This is a fact. They chose Kuz over both Randle and BI. They thought Kuz was gonna be better than them both for us. |

Lebron has been hurt 2 of the last 3 seasons and without the interruption of the 2019-2020 title season providing an extended rest period it might have been 3 of 3.
We have seen how the offense declines in his absence and while the fit with RW is not perfect he imo has the game to maintain offensive proficiency if Lebron is sidelined by injury. |

But yet his teams still won. There is something about having a player that can enforce their game on another team and come out on top even at a subpar level of efficiency. I think back to a similar player in Allen Iverson who drove that 76er team. |
