199) I’m sorry you feel that way

When it’s said by a loved one and you want them to understand your hurt.. just totally dismissive. (When that person objectively did something wrong and instead of naming the reason they are apologizing for, they’re just apologizing for you experiencing pain without owning up to it)

196)

Foo Fighters

A dumb name, but intentionally so by Grohl and co. Recall Dave and his bandmate on Conan talking about how someone came up w/ the name and they all went, "Geawd..." and went with it anyway. A subtle troll, the kind of thing that those hepcats with punk backgrounds like to do. Conan said, "All the good band names were already taken... Names like AIR SUPPLY..." Andy: "And STYX..."

I'm sorry you feel that way about, "I'm sorry you feel that way."

Silver platter, had to be done.

193)

Yeah, yeah. You jogged my memory.

Ripe or juicy booty. Only a small percent of people w/ paraphilias actually want a juicy one, but it's an eww reference no matter if it is a comparison to frutas. Colors (1988): Sgt to Robert Duvall: "Come get some of this juicy booty!" Sean Penn (amused): "Juicy booty..." That's the earliest reference of juicy booty I know of. Also, before Don Cheadle says, "Ay, Blood..." and shoots the Blood, one Blood said to the other, "Yo, Magic's the MAN..." That's RITE.

As far as fruta, we actually do the shyte fruit in grox stores. In Mexico once, I had a pre breakfast plate of finely cut frutas (watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, grapes, and cotto cheese) and it was magical. Everything tasted amazing. I ate every scrap and then a big ol standard Yankee breakfast of eggs/bacon/toast/etc. And I had juevos rancheros over there that was mindnumbingly good. Don't ask why we got weak fruta over here. Maybe them steroids. Paulie to hooker: "Que bella fruta...none of them steer-oyds." Again, Paulie to hooker: "Effin tw..."

192) bespoke

This is an excruciatingly haughty word I've only heard in clips about Rolls Royce and Bentley production. Now I'm hearing it a little more often for sh like shoes and suits. A Rolls, yes. Bespoke works. You can see all the BS they do to make the base model (a term RR doesn't use because they have no base, get it?). Shoes, even expensive Italian leather ones? Eh.

Bespoke has actually been a fashion word forever. Pretty sure the concept of bespoke started with suits.

I'm going to the haberdashery to pick up my bespoke black cap Oxfords. Mule is driving me in his slate-colo(u)red truck. Please don't say those two sentences again, 24. Just promise me you won't.

192) grooming

Ugh. The Commies and dimwits like MTG recently discovered this word. We're already inside of its steady ascendance in use. It's gonna get much bigger. Not sure if it's been entered in the list yet, but needs to be there.

I used to like this word before it got applied to every kind of high-end product. "Curated" is another one in the same vein. Totally over-used.

Good call re: curated. If one's disturbingly massive porn collection is very well maintained and organized, is it their curated porn archive? It's never occurred to me to call mine that.

All fair assessments. I get it. There was a defunct real med show called Bronx 911, still played in syndication on Disc Health Chan in recent years. I caught one where a woman went in to have a cyst drained. Unfortunately for her, it was right next to her holiest of unholies. So close that she couldn't gain enough purchase to even try to squeeze the bugger and make it leak down her leg. They showed the doc syringing out the contents and there was a steady stream of beige goo going up the tube into the syringe. It was nowhere near pus colored goo which would differentiate it from an abscess. And the syringe was a good halfway full, big plastic syringe. This was a 100 real type of med show, not a re-enactment type, so it was doubly gross knowing that the color and volume of the goo were both authentic. So right then I knew there were some cysts MUCH worse than others. Location, location, location. And thank god we don't have smell-o-vision.

RE: way it sounds - Svetlana, the 1-legged Russian woman T had amorous relations with. Also the one who put ice cubes into wine. When he came over, T noticed Branca (the one who walked in on them) was gone. Tony: "Where's what's her name...Bronco?" Sveta: "She had to go to doctor's appointment....CEEEST!" (cyst w/ emphasis). The Sops writer knew beforehand that cyst sounded funny in a Russian accent.

Sorry, Jeopardy. Potable w/ a long O no less. Derivation of that word has to be wacky. Potent Potables is a hard category for me, too, maybe that's why I dislike the word. I'm not extremely worldly on booze, tho I did get the joke in Airplane! about Ted Striker in his Navy days being stationed off the coast of Drambuie. None of the Millenns who post reaction videos to Airplane! understand that reference. They also don't get the Ethel Merman part. Ethel was a reference for old people even in 1980. And, of course, June Cleaver speaking jive doesn't compute. They need the baseline info on Leave It To Beav.

"This area is irrigated by non-potable water." Maybe Tom Cotton should've asked KBJ if she knew the percentage of people who have drunk graywater from public sprinkler heads, especially those that irrigate spider plants on the hills along freeways. That's where you see non-potable signs the most. Judge Brown-Jackson, do you know the percentage of people who drink non-potable water on the sides of busy freeways?

also on seemingly every single episode of Trebek jeopardy:

La Boheme

Absalom, Absalom!

Who is Tolstoy? No, the correct response is Dostoevsky

"La Boheme...it's an opera..." Learned that from Trading Places, but it was also surely mentioned in the $25K Pyramid topic, "Things Louis Winthorpe III would say".

What I never bought about Jeopardy is how much Americans could possibly know about British kings. Aside from Henry 8, George 3, and maybe Richard 1st, I don't know how even the few smart Americans are able to even TRY to care enough about that subject to commit it to memory. That subject is the hemlock tea of Daily Double cats. "I'll bet 10 bucks, Alex..."

187. claps back

Eech. That's a gross piece of Gen Z foolishness. I hate both the lameness of the term in general and also that it's based off of an ACTUAL thing which is gross, too. And a clap back in practice is often over something revoltingly low-class or stupid BY someone revoltingly low-class or stupid. OH!(clap) KAAY!(clap)

I would normally not put this on the list, but yesterday I saw it in a Fox News chan Youtube video header. That's why I'm back here to add it. If they use it, I wouldn't bet my life that CNN or MSNBC think it's too tacky to use themselves. I'm keeping my eye out for it on those channels. I don't need to see a video about Finland clapping back at Putin over the Ukraine invasion.
