If some of his offensive Mojo can rub off on our players then it is a great signing

Westbrook
IT
Melo
LeBron
Davis

So a lineup like this? I like the floor spread but defense gonna suck.

Which is why this lineup should never be on the floor.

Isaiah Thomas perhaps can give us what Kendrick Nunn was supposed to, but I'm starting to wonder if Nunn will ever play for us this season.

From the original ESPN article:

Quote:
Meanwhile, the Lakers, if granted a hardship exemption by the league, plan to sign free agent Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract on Friday, sources told ESPN.

The hardship exemption was put into place by the league to allow a team to exceed the full 15-man roster limit if dealing with sickness or illness to at least four players simultaneously for a period of at least two weeks.

Well, we don't have four players in the protocol. I assume that this means that we cannot sign Isaiah Thomas. We shall see.

Injuries count for the hardship exemption, so 4 with injuries/protocol.

Nunn, Dwight, Monk, THT, Bradley are in protocol, right?

That should mean we can get a hardship exemption? Although with Russ back, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us backtrack on IT

It's official now

Isaiah Thomas has signed his 10-day deal with the Lakers, sources say.

Monk is out. I forgot about Dwight. So yes, we still have four in the protocol.

Edit: Apparently, Monk is back in the protocol again. Sheesh.

According to a hoops hype article it’s injured or sick players who qualify us for the exemption. Ariza and Nunn are 2 who will miss the minimum requirement. Then we have Monk, THT and Howard. Pick two. Did Monk test positive again or maybe the team decided to hold him back as one of the 4? I think the choice will be between THT and Howard for who we bring back. Probably keep Howard in protocols?

Ariza is upgraded to questionable, so he won't count.

Well, that should settle it, at least for now.

Is it two weeks from when we sign the 10-day contract though? Ariza has missed well over 2 weeks.

I thought he looked good. He can still score. And he made some an effort on a couple of defensive plays in the first half, as well.

At least when the lakers go “small” with IT, he can make them pay.

Scoring is never been an issue with IT.... It's on the defensive end where he's a major liability. He's just too small and a big handicap on that end.

Lakers are not constructed to able to hide IT on defense.

I feel so bad for this guy. Missed out on generational money because he desperately wanted to play through a hip injury to help his team in the playoffs. That and the fact Ainge is a f'king snake.

No practice and the dude was our leading scorer. Hilarious. Obvious he can still get buckets but will always be hunted defensively unfortunately. Wish he would stick with us but with AB, Monk, Reaves, and Nunn coming back soon there's probably no room. Maybe put Rondo on IR until the playoffs. Whatever the case, I wish noting but the best for Thomas --- a life-long Lakers/Kobe fan btw.

Pretty much did what Kendrick Nunn has been expected to do.

Man, I swear some of you are so obsessed with length that you would have drafted Mikal Bridges over Trae Young or Tyreke or DeRozan over Steph.

We do need a wing... but scraping the Stanley Johnson, Rondae Hollis Jefferson bottom of the barrel wings isn't going to change anything.

We stupidly dumped all of our wings, so now we are stuck but that doesn't mean you shouldn't sign talent like IT if he's healthy again.

Better to dump one of the journeymen guards and keep IT, if he's healed now.

We are going to need some players when half the team is gone next season.

We definitely need more defense but you have to give IT credit, despite his flaws, he came in prepared for the moment on short notice.
IT showed that he is still an exciting player. His overall contribution exceeded expectations especially for a player only on a 10 day contract.

Only reason IT had success with the C's is because they had great defensive personell to hide him. We cant play this guy extensive minutes he's gonna get torched.

Good first outing and kind of what I expected from him. If he doesn't stick around, this was a good audition for him and other teams are taking notice.

Defensively, he's not worse than say... Lou Williams. If he's playing the bench role and giving you 15-20 minutes a game, it doesn't even matter honestly.
