It doesn't have to be long term but who would be the best one to start next season with? Who's likely to help this team without a Lebron or Paul George to get to the playoffs?

Marc Gasol looks to be available by trade

Deandre May be available by trade or free agency

Dedmon by free agency

Nerlens Noel by free agency

Boogie cousins by free agency

Brook Lopez

I don’t know man. I was enamored with finally bringing Cousins to LA. Pairing him with PG was life goals.

Nikola Jokic will either be a RFA this summer or an UFA next summer, and he would be an exceptional player to pair with Lonzo for the next decade (he's only 22). Not a realistic option, but I'd go after him as my top center option in free agency.

You aren't worried about Jokic's defensive liability-ness?

I'd still trade Lopez for Deandre straight up if the Clippers would do it, because if Jordan opts in, it enables us to sign a max without needing to get rid of anyone, aside from needing to stretch Deng.

Anyway, I am thinking, what if Deandre opted out, looking for a bigger contract but then had to settle for 16-17M somewhere else instead?

As in.. what if he pulled a KCP.

+2. I have always felt Lebron should be the 5 late in his career, especially in today's game.

Not every white player is a bad defender.

I haven't watched him recently but if he's the same level, I'd take DeAndre.

He's like a healthy version of Dwight with a good personality. If Dwight can still earn 20 plus million at three years older... I think it's being overstated how dangerous or unmoveable his contract would be.

Pair DeAndre with a shooter and we are in the playoffs... and we can move him if somehow Cousins recovers fully.

Damn. Didn’t realize he was that old. He was in the same draft as KCP so I thought they were of similar age.

Yup. You need your centers to play like wings. That's why LeBron and Durant were playing 5 during the Finals. Off the chart offensive ratings for both teams.

So Jules at center?

That's why I want to keep him. Switchable defense. Improved FG% when he takes "5-like" shots, like roll man in PnR. But most ideal is still LeBron. Grab and go. Decision-making. Passing. 3pt. range. Ability to pull the best swatter out of the painted area.
