Can't say enough about how great AC was tonight. If not for how huge he was in the 1st half alone, Lakers would not have had any chance tonight.

He needs to be the starter.

I'd be pissed if we decided to overpay Schroder and let him go in the offseason

IMHO zero chance we let him go unless an all star in his prime comes in return

Would you trade him for KAT? Myles turner, fox

AC a big reason for the win. Nothing more to say beyond that.

Great game by Caruso. Sounds odd to say but he was one of the main reasons they stayed in contact in the horrible first half until the rest is f the team decided to start playing.

Think about that for a moment, on a team of bigger stars and more talented players...Alex Caruso was the stand out.

Lakers need his energy and defensive IQ on the floor. Him hitting the 3s and cuts to the basket gives the stagnant offense some much needed success.

But he is a role player. The stars need to show up.

Not sure if he is appreciated enough to get a new contract with the Lakers. Could see him getting a bigger contract with another team as the Lakers chase after a bigger name. But that is a discussion for another day.

For now just keep leading by example and effort. The Lakers need it.

Prime example of how an iron mentality AND heart can more than overcome physical ability. This guy never gives up: hits the back board and misses badly on an open 3 but goes right back and forces Curry into a turnover and gets the ball back. What a player.

Caruso will be a free agent and IMO will get Full MLE offers at a minimum.

Play of the game last night - Lakers down 98-95 with 2:41 left and Caruso bricks a wide open 3 off the side of the backboard. Dubs get the ball to Steph, but Caruso hustles back and forces Steph into a turnover. Lakers get the ball back and get 2 FT from Anthony Davis. If Alex doesn't make that play and the Dubs get a score, Lakers probably lose the game.

Lakers won't let him get away.

He has to be one of, if not the best, on ball defender in the NBA.

You know how hard it is to find that type of player?

Lakers gave him a chance. He seems like a loyal guy. As long as the Lakers pay him his FMV, he'll sign here no problem.

Now, if a team gets crazy and offers him the moon, then that's going to be a difficult decision.

I still think the Lakers sign him even if that happens. He's too valuable and we won't be able to replace him.

AC is a Texas kid. I think Dallas will be gunning for him to get Luka a defender next to him. Lakers will have quite an interesting free agency this offseason.

But thankfully we have him at least for this playoff run. He was amazing last night. I mean it may be worth pointing out that on that SPL championship team that included Zo/Kuz, AC turned out to be the best playoff guy that you want in games that matter. Very Fisher-esque in that regard.

This . . . and AC absolutely seems like a Pop type of player, as well.

Guys are - and should be - loyal to their families and bank accounts. It's one thing to give a discount when you've made $140 million. It's another thing when you've only made $3 million and likely only have one shot at a bigger contract. Caruso will be 28 next season.

Next summer will probably be the first and last chance for Caruso to get paid. I will understand if he leaves.

Caruso is still a context dependent role-player, and a team with as many roster holes as the Mavs may not want to throw most of their last free agency cash at a third guard like AC. The Mavs will definitely go after him, but they have to figure out what to do with Josh Richardson, still need a more reliable sidekick for Doncic, need shooting if Reddick/THj walk, need another big wing defender, and have a mess at center.*

I think he'll get full MLE offers from some playoff teams, but I'd bet on the Lakers going up to $10M per to keep him. The years/raises/guaranteed money will be the sticking points.

*Damn, Doncic is really good.

AC is kinda like Rondo, they're great for championship contenders, they don't move the needle much for the majority of teams.

with that said, i bet the clippers make a run at him. ballmer likes punking us.

Does Caruso have an Uncle Dennis who needs a new mansion?

And with what money (under the cap rules) will the Clippers sign Schroeder?

AC is a much better defensive player than Fish, but Fish was a more reliable shooter. No joke, I really don't think it's crazy to put Caruso's impact on defense on similar levels of 3-peat Kobe and Eddie Jones as the best defensive guards the Lakers have had since Cooper. Lindsey Hunter was really hyped up, but never panned out for what the Lakers were looking for when they traded for him. AC is the Lakers 3rd most impactful player on the team for a reason and should be the main priority this offseason.

I'm talking skill: shooting, passing, penetrating/finishing. Fine, read it as "skills ability".

Fish couldn't hit the broad side of a barn before the injury that kept him out most of a season, giving him the opportunity to work on his shot all year. Caruso is a much better ball handler, shot creator, and finisher than Fish ever was, and is more of an athlete.

He hasn't hit his ceiling yet. If he could hit 35% of his three point attempts (at higher volume) then he'd be exactly what this team needed as a starting point.
