I am really curious about SC's next coach and there were rumblings that Chip may be leaving UCLA |

Just a brutal season for USC.
They have to stop recruiting boys and get men defensively.
This current show is not Trojan football and needs to change.
Crucial hire coming up...so far none of the options floated are that enticing to me. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

I say they should just keep on doing whatever they are doing. I’m enjoying it. 😄

LOL, I am actually a San Diego State alum and fan but I grew up in LA and USC football is supposed to achieve a certain level and they are falling short at present.
Should have hired Urban Meyer when he was still available. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Their current situation is that the administrators wanted to control the football program rather than letting a coach run things. As is they had yes men running the football program, so they had a relatively violation free program but the program is nowhere being nationally relevant anymore. I doubt they will hire Urban Meyer as he'll probably get them in trouble again even though he would get them the results they desire. |

SDSU really remained under the radar this season.....doubt a ton of fans on the East Coast even realize they are 10-1. That win over Utah is looking very impressive. |

My personal opinion....make a good football hire that knows the culture and region with a good recruiting background. Do not worry about the press conference or making a media splash with a big name.
I think if they feel like they have to find someone that can win the PAC12 next season, they will likely fail in the hire. Get a guy that is up to the task of rebuilding the culture and make sure the coach and fans know that this will take a few years to get back to the top in a sustainable manner. Build a program that ensures guys like Kayvon Thibodeaux do not end up in Eugene or guys like Bryce Young do not end up in Tuscaloosa.....both of those guys would be Trojans during the Pete Carroll era. The #1 reason programs like USC, Florida, Florida State, Texas and Miami are struggling is they are allowing elite talent in their back yards to be picked off by schools outside the state. |

The PAC-12 is embarrassing. No playoff team
again. Going to be 8 years since the last (and only) playoff win. I thought USC would have an easier time contending when we started getting a 4 team playoff instead of a game with 2 teams, but they are even farther away from contending.
And I’m always annoyed to see the SEC get 1 or 2 teams in it every year. |

The local recruits don't want to go to Pac-12 schools because they are no longer competitive. So they go to schools in the SEC, Big-10 or other conferences that will get to showcase their talents to the NFL. Its a cycle that will be hard to break out of. |

Great example is Ohio State with CJ Stroud and Chris Olave. |

The Pac-12 schools need to increase their salary cap. |

Brian Kelly is going to take the LSU job apparently.
I guess those rumors of LSU's plane in South Bend had merit after all..
A bit of a shock but I'm not that bothered by it as he was never going to win a championship here. |

Not sure if that is a lateral move....back in the day the Notre Dame job was a higher profile job. Just goes to show you how much pull the SEC has these days. |

ND hasn't won a championship in 33 years a lot has changed since.
You don't need to go there to be noticed plus ND has these high academic standards that LSU clearly does not have.
I'm not bothered by him leaving he left them better than when he came. However I think how he's handling this is rather gutless. |

I think it's clear that LSU has more resources and has the ability to get great players. However, ND was a pretty cushy gig. You play a weaker schedule, plus have the cache to have good shots at the CFP if you finish with 1 loss or less. Now he goes to a situation where you basically have to be better than Alabama just to have a chance at the CFP. Lincoln Riley saw the writing on the wall, that's for sure. |

Not surprised. College football coaches are the highest paid coaches because they are basically a GM and coach rolled into one. |

USC has landed the #2 recruit for the 2023 class, QB Malachi Nelson out of Los Alamitos. The Riley effect already. |

USC with the home run hire, I didn't even consider him as I didn't think there would be any shot of him leaving Oklahoma. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

finally. SC gets better, ND gets worse now we get to see Kelly pop a vein on the sideline where his antics will be encouraged not stifled. |

11-1 after grinding out another W vs. Boise State the day after Thanksgiving.
Incredible season by the Mighty Aztecs, especially considering they are playing their "home" games in LA while the new stadium is built.
Once that thing opens next year, SDSU will have their first true home field advantage since the days of the Aztec Bowl! _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Yes they have even my dad wondered why they aren't part of the CFP convo. We were watching their game the other day. |

Its probably because SDSU doesn't get covered by the local media because they are a San Diego team. I didn't even know they were playing at the Stub Hub center aka Dignity Health Sports Park while their stadium was being built until I saw a game on CBS in the morning. You would have to be a pretty hardcore fan of your college team to trek 2 hours north to what is equivalent to a neutral field. |
