Mason Jones Named NBA G League Player of the Month

    Quote:
The NBA G League announced today that South Bay Lakers two-way guard Mason Jones has been named NBA G League Player of the Month for games played in January.

In eight games (all starts) in January, Jones led the G League in scoring with 28.0 points per game on 52.1 percent field-goal shooting while also averaging 8.9 rebounds and 6.4 assists in 39.1 minutes per game. The DeSoto, Texas native was signed by the Los Angeles Lakers to a two-way contract on December 21, 2021, after originally being acquired by South Bay on November 6, 2021.

South Bay Lakers Acquire Jemerrio Jones in Trade with Wisconsin

Quote:
The South Bay Lakers have acquired forward Jemerrio Jones from the Wisconsin Herd in exchange for a 2022 NBA G League first round draft pick, South Bay’s 2022 third round draft pick and the returning player rights to Wayne Selden Jr.
In a related move, the team has waived forward/center Will Davis II.

Jones (6-5, 175) returns to the Lakers organization after signing at 10-day NBA contract with Los Angeles on December 21, 2021, under the NBA’s Hardship Exception provisions.
The Tennessee native also played six games (two starts) for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2018-19 campaign, averaging 4.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 23.8 minutes.

SBLakers fall 116-117 to SLCStars

Quote:
Tim Hayes (@) Hayes_BHCSports
Mac McClung 29 points (13-25 FG), 10 assists, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 turnovers. Hit game-tying shot at end of regulation, just missed potential game-winner at end of OT.

SB Lakers almost stole this game despite not using 3 of their best players. Mason Jones (27 ppg), Cam Oliver (8.3 rebs), & Frank Mason didn't play. Jay Huff was dominating but only played 19 minutes.

They are an exciting team; I'm sure they'll bounce back. Coach Simon is experimenting and trying to get the newer guys (Sekou & Jemarrio) acclimated.

Sekou has been getting PT since he returned from injury. He has not made an impact with this team yet. However he's coming along but needs more time.

Mac putting them up all across the board and is playing with confidence.
He scored more than 30 in in a couple of recent games. He has handles and a good shot. He showed his hops too with two alley-oops from teammates.
He's one of the leaders of this deep, talented South Bay squad.
