Aside from the obvious lottery pick coming, do the Lakers own a second first round slot ? GP2 seems a bit non-lottery quality, a heckofa nice player. |

Payton seems a bit too intriguing to slip much into the 2nd round, if at all, but maybe I'm off in my own projections. It just seems players like that, that put up such compelling numbers and have such strong physical gifts, end up climbing the draft boards by draft time. |

he's hurt by his age and his relatively slow development. Late 1st early 2nd is probably fair for him in a normal draft, but this year's draft is pretty thin so I could see him rising. |

A potential lure of drafting Payton II is having his father possibly becoming involved with the team. He obviously has a lot to share and I'm sure would be beneficial in helping with Russell's development. Payton II is currently projected as a mid/late 2nd round pick, and we'd be picking in the top 5 of the second round so he should be available. I'm not a huge college basketball guy but there could be better available at our spot. |

DraftExpress have got Gary Payton II as the 45 draft pick on one of their 2016 mock draft.
http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2016/
Is there anyway of working out when the Lakers second round draft pick will be? |

It's based on our first round position. If we're 2nd in the first round we're the 2nd pick in the 2nd round. Even if we lose our first round pick ,we'll still have a good 2nd rounder , btw. |

It's based on record. So if we have the 2nd worst record, we have the 2nd best 2nd round pick. It isn't impacted by the lottery. |

I need to see the improvement first. He'd be in the D-League right now if he was drafted.
I'm highly confident about the players listed above. Know what you're getting. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I'm even okay with Rico Gathers, just because rebounders get long careers. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Do you think the Lakers need another young PF? With already having Randle and Nance Jr. |

The draft is the easiest way to get assets for the team. Worst case, develop him in NBDL. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

32nd pick could be interesting. Wonder if there's a way to sneak into late 1st round? Guys like Sabonis's son, Justin Jackson are possibilities. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

SABONIS!! I'm shocked no one has realized he's a center yet. |

Average wingspan. I don't think he'll be able to affect things defensively, but he's nimble around the rim and can rebound. I'd like him at the 2nd round pick too. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

But...he knows how to play basketball. Sometimes I think that gets overlooked. He can anchor. |

Withey can swat.
More like Nicola Jokic. Good touch in the paint. Good court awareness. Rebounder. Can't swat. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

If Tyler Ulis is there at #32, I'm taking him. I don't care if he's 3 feet tall. |
