This guy has the feel.
I am telling you watch out for this Sam Dekker kid, I have been following his progress closely for a while and quite frankly, he could do way more now but is simply deferring to not rock the boat.
Draft this guy, we have picks right? _________________ Love, Laker Lanny

He'll be drafted in the latter third of the first round. |

I agree, I liked what I saw in last night's game against UNC.
He definitely has a great feel. I think he could be a bit like Chandler Parsons. _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again

Last year he looked like Dan Majerle.
This year, more like Matt Harpring. Role player, 2-way. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

A jack of all trades. Not bad for the Houston pick. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Saw him play today. He's got moxie and size. If he can defend NBA SFs then I'd draft him with the Hou pick |

I'm not a fan of Dekker's, personally. I'm not sure what he does well on the next level. He's not a great spot up shooter, and he's not a particularly good ball handler either. He's best around the basket, but I'm not sure how he gets there. I mainly see him exploiting size mismatches around the hoop, and I don't think he'll be able to do that in the NBA. He's not a good enough rebounder to be a stretch 4 either. I don't think he has the quickness necessary to be a good defender on the next level either.
His best bet is to improve his jumper. He has decent mechanics, but that hasn't translated to his on court game as of yet. I'm a much bigger fan of Kaminsky. |

You just answered my question. Can he defend NBA SFs ?
Sounds like it's a no and in that case I'll pass |

I see him as a Kyle Singler sort of player at the NBA level. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Harpring was tough as nails, but I think Dekker fills out a similar role considering how physical Wisconsin is as a team.
Nothing about Dekker stands out. Average ball-handling. Average shooting. Average athleticism. Average wingspan.
But, if he shows good hoop IQ, there's no reason why he can't play a role similar to Matt Harpring or even Mike Dunleavy Jr. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

The thing about Harpring is that he was a very good rebounder for a wing, and was a pretty good defender. I'm not saying that Dekker can't become a decent ball player. But guys like Harpring (rebounding, defense/physicality) and Dunleavy (shooting, passing) brought other things to the table, which I don't see from Dekker. I agree that nothing stands out about him, either good or bad. I think something needs to stand out for him to be a productive pro.
It's not that I don't think he can get there, but there are several other guys that I'd take before I got to him. |

I agree.
Weird part is, two season ago, he was more of a sharp shooter for Wisconsin. This year, he has been more focused in the paint and his 3-point % dropped noticeably. However, if he's the guy remaining at a later round pick, with few other players looking enticing, he's a solid pick.
Worst case, you get a 6'9" 3 and D player. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I kind of like Dekker..
I don't have the question marks about his game. Like what's been said, he's outstanding at nothing. But I think he's solid at everything, and I think those things will translate fine.
i think he'll be a solid SF, somewhere between a fringe starter and a solid starter role player.
I think he can end up playing like Harrison Barnes |

I like Dekker's game, but earlier in the season I thought he would be there with the Rockets pick. He's going to be a much better pro then Kaminsky. I think he'll be a solid starting SF and 4th option. |

He doesn't have the handle to be much more than a hustle guy and spot up shooter at the 3 spot in the NBA. |
