I'm just going for Saturday/Sunday. Didn't want to take work off. Hopefully Randle will be signed by the weekend. Looks like he won't unfortunately.

Well it's that time of year again. Since the Lakers missed the playoffs, and things here on LG have been eerily quiet all summer, it's time to get back in the swing of things and celebrate this summers crop of soon to be overrated Summer League Saviours. So who will win this summers surprise "Smush" award and wiggle his way onto the fall roster?

So Marcus Smart is shooting 25% overall and 17% from 3....I know it's just summer league and small sample size but that's pretty damn bad so far.

Randle probably won't be able to play because they're still waiting on Melo.

Payton lit it up today. As for our team, the roster is here just in case you missed it:

NAME POS HT WT COLLEGE/LAST TEAM YRS. PRO
Rodrigue Beaubois G 6'1" 183 Spirou Charleroi 4. He was good
Jordan Clarkson G 6'5" 194 Missouri R. Future star
Xavier Gibson C 6'11" 229 Florida State R
Anthony Ireland G 5'10" 194 Loyola Maramount R
Jerome Jordan C 7'1" 220 Tulsa 1 nba ready
DeAndre Kane G 6'4" 200 Iowa State R nba ready
Kendall Marshall G 6'4" 195 North Carolina 2 back up pro
Trevor Mbakwe F 6'10" 244 Minnesota R pro
Kevin Murphy G 6'6" 185 Tennessee Tech 1
Julius Randle F 6'9" 249 Kentucky R young star
LaQuinton Ross F 6'8" 220 Ohio State R
Roscoe Smith F 6'8" 215 UNLV R wildcard
Trey Thompkins F 6'10" 244 Georgia/LA Clippers 1 nba ready
Scott Wood F 6'6" 169 North Carolina State R
Renaldo Woolridge F 6'9" 220 USC R wildcard

We have a lot of prospects here excluding Randle (e.g. Kane, Beaubois, Clarkson), but expectations should be tempered. Personally, I hope that Marshall has stepped up his game. I would like one other player to shine and dominate the summer league along with Randle.

Fun fact: Renaldo Woolridge is son of former Laker Orlando Woolridge.

Thought Smart looked good in his matchup against Payton today, especially towards the end when they let him run the point instead of Pressey. Probably his best showing in SPL. Smart's going to be beast on defense, but I don't believe this plan Boston has for running him at the 2 is going to pan out though.

i think wood is gonna have a spot in the nba somewhere. anyone that can shoot like that coming off screens and turn-arounds can be productive as a system player.

Do we have a starting lineup yet? I'd like to see Clarkson get the start at the 1. We've seen enough of Marshall, show Clarkson some confidence in him and hope he pans out. Let Marshall back him up.
