What do you think about Carnevino at the Palazzo?

Carnevino is nice. A lot of meat. Can't complain about it. I like it more for its food other than steak though.

The seafood tower at Mastro's isn't a set price... it depends on what you put on it. You have to build it to your own preferences.

Ironically, my favorite steak anywhere is this place called Pinnacle Peaks located in Santee (a town in San Diego). It's cheap and awesome. No frills restaurant - famous for cutting your tie off you if wear one. It will cost you $20 or so for a 22 ounce porterhouse.

What? Their Ribeye for two can't be more than eight ounces for each person. It's literally seven pieces.

So would Mastro's still give you the tower if you only ordered like a dozen oysters and a few crab legs and shrimp? If I wind up going, I don't really want to spend more than $30 for an appetizer. How much did you pay and what did you get?

^Carnovino has a tomahawk ribeye that will fill you up quite nicely.

The seafood tower will cost you a lot more than $30. I think the shrimp by itself is $20 or something. Just go online and look at their menu. You can get a feel for what it may cost just adding up things ala carte.

Pinnacle Peak in San Dimas. They got two steaks, the Cowboy and the Cowgirl. It's more of a BBQ place but they're known for their steaks.

No Larsen's on this list BTW?

Where would you rank it among the five listed chains?

Also, is the seafood tower price just calculated by the amount of individual appetizers you stack on it?

I think, out of the one's you've mentioned, most people would choose Mastro's. I like Flemings for my own reasons, but I know most people seem to like Mastro's the most and I don't blame them.

The seafood tower is calculated by what you put on it... like if there are 4 shrimp per $20 shrimp cocktail, it would cost you $5 for each shrimp you put on there. However, there are seafood choices not on the appetizer menu that you can add onto it as well. Most are on the menu, but some are seasonal and not on there.

CandyCanes, you should be dining at Michelin 3-star restaurants, not these chains.

I've been to both and would highly recommend. Strangely my favorite thing at Craftsteak was the braised pork but everything was excellent. If you're in Vegas, I'd recommend both over Cut.

I know this thread is about the steaks, but it's worth checking out the Happy Hour action at some of these places. For example, Flemmings serves a fantastic burger for six bucks and is one of the few places I trust to make it medium rare. In fact their whole happy hour line up of food and drinks is delicious and a great value. HH goes from 4-7, and seats go fast.

I'm not sure how I feel about the hot plates. Does the steak continue to cook even after served? Maybe that's why my filet was so unimpressive. I went medium rare since I was sharing. Normally I would have gone rare.

I was very disappointed with Flemings, their ribeye was nothing special. Did not taste the condensed dry aged beef flavor at all.
Mastros is one of my favorites but more for their overall menu.
My favorite steak I had was a dry aged bone in rib eye at the Barrymore in Vegas which was a good bit cheaper than others I tried.

Been to fleming's and morton's. Fleming's steaks are almost always overseasoned for me while morton's gets it right every time.

The best steak I ever had was one I bought from Ralph's supermarket and I grilled it myself. Didn't really add much other than salt and pepper.

Yeah, it's decent, but survives mostly on it's old school rep in my opinion.

I'd rather go to Pacific Dining Car, Jar or Nick and Stefs.

I've actually been to all of these. My pick is Ruth's Chris because the service is always consistent regardless of city location. Doesn't hurt when the food is great also. I'm not a huge fan of Morton's unless I'm going there for happy hour. They have a pretty good appetizer menu. Flemings is way overrated imo. And the others are cool.

The steak house inside the Circus Circus hotel in Las Vegas is one of the best I've ever had. I think is one of the local's favorite places too! Has anyone tried it before?

Thanks! I'm going to be in Anaheim this week with a friend and our hotel is right next to that and Ruth's Chris. Which do you generally prefer? Would you say Morton's is worth it or really nothing special?
