The photoshops don't cost anything. It's basically free publicity. The Lakers have a huge following/network on Twitter and Facebook. Messages spread fast when the Lakers send out a message on Twitter or Facebook. However I heard they have put up a around a half dozen billboards around the city of Los Angeles and that cost $$$. Someone said just one of them cost $800K.
If they got the from Regency Outdoor, the owner probably didn't even make them pay.

I understand what the Lakers PR / Marketing department is trying to accomplish with these Dwight billboards / photoshop campaign. They are trying to show how Dwight could be a major star in Los Angeles / Hollywood. Not only for basketball reasons but for entertainment / endorsements and acting opportunities as well.
That last tweet almost looks like something from a “droid” commercial.
Verizon could easily commercialize his “Iron Man” (never misses games) shtick.

This is what Dwight says he has always wanted.
Or maybe we are ruining the jig. Dwight is out of town, and were trying to make him think we paid for all this advertising?
Dwight isn't out of town. He's here with his new baby....that's why teams that want him are coming to LA instead of him going there.

Ok thanks. Any sightings around town? I want to be there on free Sprinkles day.
I think its more funny than anything.
Just like the Dos Equis commercials where they use funny examples.
And LA has alot of great landmarks to play around.
People are over reacting as usual. If Lakers really did those things, then it would be tacky. But playing around with photoshop on landmarks, i think thats funny. _________________ The journey to 17 begins...
It's obvious that the Lakers putting up all these billboards and photoshops of Dwight all over the city of LA is to pitch Hollywood and Entertainment to him when they have a sit down with him in July. It's designed to plant an image in his head as to how big he can be in the entertainment capital of the world and the 2nd largest market in the United States. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
Just when you think the Lakers PR department had sunk to it's lowest, they circle the drain even deeper.
This entire thing is embarrassing.
Jeannie showing that she's ready for basketball operations?
Jokes aside, I think she's doing exactly what she's suppose to be doing. This is hollywood and these photoshops are funny. Fits to D12 pitch.
What do fans expect the Lakers to do? Do what Orlando did before losing Shaq? Take a poll saying fans don't want him here? FO doing little do retain Shaq while other teams did their pitch? _________________ The journey to 17 begins...

She's doing what she should be doing, exactly.
But that's not the point.
The hilarious point, is that everyone is mad at jim buss.

Many will always blame Jim for everything and credit him with nothing!

His go-to move is the slam dunk.
His free throws are considered weapons of mass destruction.
He's always smiling even when he's not.
He's the most interesting free agent this offseason.
Stay Laker fans my friends.

I get the joke. But one thing that has been consistently glossed over in this thread is Black's statement that it was a decision agreed upon by both the business and basketball side of things. See page 11.
If it was Kobe would you guys be calling it embarassing?
The hell is the big deal about a sign telling Dwight to stay?
The man is a FA we are suppose to recruit!
Kobe has delivered 5 rings and 7 finals in a span of 13 years.
Howard has delivered one of the most disapointing seasons in Lakers history and a 1st round sweep.
You don't beg players like Howard to stay unless your franchise has nothing going for them and are desperate to make a splash. The Lakers should be far from that, but the way things are going, they are heading that way so I guess they should start working on begging FA to sign.
If you're going to beg, do it for a guy who has won 11 rings and wanted to coach your team.
should make Jimbo beg _________________ Phil Jackson said Bryant's first comment to Jordan, however, was: "I can take you one-on-one!"
Kobe Bryant on Michael Jordan's trash talk: 'He knows I'm a bad motherf*****'
Nice photoshop job . . . except for the fact that the two photos don't match. Notice how the edge of the "S" in "Lakers" is cut off in the bottom image but not in the top image.
