Acording to Marca, a spanish newspaper, there is a colossal trade getting ready to explode.
That move would take Deron and Pau to the Mavs, with the Lakers receiving Odom and other pieces.
At the same time, Bynum flies to Orlando and Howard would come to L.A.

There better be a 5th team involved. I don't want to give up Andrew and Pau for Dwight, Odom and "other pieces" from the Mavs,NJ or Orlando.
I doubt any of this even happens though. |

I call BS on this...if Jim Buss is pulling strings, I don't see it happening, not to mention he's also said there is a very good chance of us having Pau,Bynum and Kob' to start next season. Not to mention, what do we gain by giving up Pau AND Bynum with only getting Lamar and Dwight? We gain almost absolutely nothing... _________________ http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo278/InnocenceIsKey/3628030654_e9f0a77689_o.jpg |

First thoughts
-refreshing to see a rumor from someone with more than 3 posts
-Can't see LA helping Dallas unless they absolutely know Deron goes there anyway, then you're dealing both bigs for Howard....they need more coming back
-not sure if
-the bigs would need extensions, if Howard doesn't want to sign long term with LA... why will he do it with one less asset (Pau), you'd have to pull a miracle with the TPE (Nash?) or picks you better get from Orlando
doesn't check out unless something else substantial comes back |

exactly it would suck if we parted with bynum and gasol for dwight, odom, and some useless role players. unless of course we get jason terry and jj redick in return. those two players would instantly cure our shooting woes and give the team better spacing. |

That part is the most difficult to swallow. Why whould the Lakers turn Dallas into a (again) ring contender? Deron, Dirk and Pau sounds too good for the Mavs for us to allow that possibility. |

I'm a Real Madrid fan... and Marca is an absolute piece of trash newspaper. They get nothing right and often make things up (complete falsehoods) to get attention. The two Madrid newspapers that are worth following are AS and El Confidencial for sports. |

I guess Dallas signs Deron as a FA. So basically it is a swap of Bynum for Howard. There is NO WAY we are trading Pau for Odom. |

Bynum for Howard I'd consider, however I'd want a pick or two,Odom and a shooter for Pau. _________________

The Lakers would have to have some other moves up their sleeve, I don't see dwight signing long term with
Howard
LO
Metta
KB
PG-?
That's still a second round exit imo unless they get someone like nash or billups etc and even then I still don't think Howard signs long term because that team is old as dirt. If they had a good young PG that would be different, I actually think LO is a great fit at PF next to Howard, and Metta not so bad at SF, might need a better 3 pt shooting SF. For Dallas they would be in heaven
C - Pau
PF - Dirk
Sf- ?
Sg - ?
Pg - Deron
Still old but really talented up front |

We should do that trade and then pick up Nash.
Nash
Kobe
Metta
Dirk
Pau

Dirk, Pau, Nash and Kone on the same team would be fun to watch even if it's only for a year or two |

if for some strange reason the lakers ended up with dirk, expect nash to do everything in his power to come to la. that's a super team right there. would reunite nash with dirk, while having kobe and pau as teammates. too good to be true though |

i dont' believe the rumor.. BUT i can see the angle..
Of course this deal would suck in terms of talent.. but think about how it does work: MONEY..
Still have 2 seasons before the new CBA, i can see pressure for us to open the cap space by next offseason when teams start freaking out right before the CBA kicks in.
My only problem with this situation is that you can't forget about your budget when you go shopping.
And the consolation as many have said "it's no worse or better in terms of results". But look at it from t he other angle - pick up a REAL future franchise player, fill up some bench holes AND GET UNDER THE CAP.
Especially being flexible in case there's a firesale the next season on some guys before the new CBA..
It's a bad trade of course, but how do we trade pau because of cap reasons BUT get better fitting talent at the same time?
The realization there is that bynum isn't enough down low; so there's part 2 of the bad trade.
I mean honestly, Pau made some bad and ill-timed decisions, his shot STANK AGAIN.. but then people say "oh we need a faster PF beside bynum".. i saw PAU (last game vs Denver and after) running back as fast as any other.. He wasn't the one the defense was waiting for, he wasn't the one getting exposed with bad PnR coverage. Actually Pau rotated fine WHEN BYNUM WOULD MAKE A QUICK DECISION TO STEP OUT.
So to all those that blame pau and wish him gone.. just be cautious.. we won't get equal value back, and no one else provides the all-around game that we need to put beside AB. _________________ KOBE!!! |

And then bring Phil back to run the triangle. That team would win the next 2 championships. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Stop creating terrible posts! |
