I don't blame Pau, but I was surprised they went to him with a few minutes left with the game tied in the 4th.
He was so obviously gassed he couldn't even get the ball up towards the basket.
Against the good teams (and yes, Denver is a good team) we need Bynum in the rotation. Too bad he decided to wait forever to get surgery, that to me is unacceptable. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

In fact Caracter wasn't that bad. Let him play dammit! _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.." |

Min just caught up to Pau and Kobe is not in the condition to take over games yet, when he had to carry the load throught the game. One loss... bound to happen. No Big deal. We probably needed a wakeup call anyways. |

Just HORRIBLE execution in that 4th quarter. They looked like they forgot how to run the offense and instead resorted to jacking up 3s and making ill-advised passes that lead to huge buckets for Denver. It was pretty sad that they couldn't even take adavantage of the Pau vs Harrington matchup in the 4th. Oh well, can't win them all. On to the next one |

Pau's been logging heavy minutes, especially in oxygen-deprived Denver. And I didn't even see LO or Ratliff in the 2nd half (I dunno when they played really). LA made a lot of improvements but the frontcourt depth is the same. |

Hopefully this game would teach them to finally play some (bleep) defense. |
Yeah, Lawson has a ton of speed and I guess the Lakers really don't have an answer for that. I remember him driving to the basket at will in the Denver matchups last season, and turns out not much has changed this year. Good strategy by Karl to kind of have him rested and ready for the end of 3rd/4th which really allowed them to kill the Lakers lead.

Officials: Violet Palmer , John Gobel , Dan Crawford
I think I see the problem, it certainly wasn't offense. We scored 112.
Where was Lamar tonight? Why was he on the bench down the stretch when we lost this game?
Lamar had 2 fouls, played 26 minutes and was a +10. Phil needs to earn his paychecks some nights. _________________

John Gobel is a new name.
Keep an eye out for him, he was utter and complete garbage tonight. Another guy from the Philadelphia cabal perhaps? _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

This is the kind of game where I have to drop out of posting for a long time out so I don't start hating on PJ. He's the undisputed title champ of all NBA coaches. He knows a lot more about what he's doing than I do.
But it was obvious Pau was out of gas in Q3. We had a lead at the time. Caracter was playing a good game his prior few minutes back around Q1. Odom was on the bench too and available.
What was the 'lesson' learned in this game?? How did this make this team better? Was it an opportunity for Pau to get some anaerobic exercise? Was that worth a loss?
Every time I think PJ's gone senile he proves me wrong and wins a championship. PJ frustrates and baffles me sometimes. What an enigma. |

yeh the officials were horrible tonight(esp. that guy). don't get me wrong though, the lakers deserve most of the blame for the way they played down the stretch tonight. _________________ #16 and counting..........

Look guys no excuses, it was a poor effort in the fourth end of story. Its one loss, not the end of the world. |

In the Lakers' two worst games so far (the last two), Kobe took more shots than any of the other seven games. A coincidence?
I've heard it said here that as Kobe goes, so goes the Lakers. If that was ever true, it's not true anymore. The Lakers play their best when its more of a balanced game and the team executes their plays and doesn't have to rely on Kobe going into superhero mode.
Of course Gasol being gassed didn't help, but come on, we all saw Kobe take shots that he shouldn't have down the stretch rather than pass the ball around for a higher percentage shot.
Kobe's become a much better player in recent years than his ball hog youth, but sometimes when the Lakers get behind, he seems to panic and go into an instinctual mode of thinking he can win the game by himself, even when he isn't shooting the ball very well. |
