After observing how well the trilogy held up by NOT being mentioned in the old "most overrated movies" thread and so staunchly defended at even suggesting so, it gave me the idea that it had a solid following among LG posters.
One of the very few movies ever made with a sequel considered equal to or better. _________________ "Hardly." - Dr. Jerry Buss |

First of all, take III off the poll.
I love II but I've always been partial to Part I. |

You know what, I'd originally left it off and wrote "If you pick III, Say So in the thread". _________________ "Hardly." - Dr. Jerry Buss |

Huge Deniro fan and Michael shows more of his cold blooded side by killing his older brother. Gotta go w/ 2. _________________ Thank you, Kobe. We love you. |

There are many wonderful elements of II, especially all the backstory, but its all set up by I. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

one was already great. but two was a tour de force w/a story that you didn't need to watch the first to follow. that movie could more than stand on its own. that is not the case w/any other sequel. both di ne ro and especially pacino were brilliant, particulary pacino. _________________ 'How many kids can say growing up that they'll turn pro and play for their favorite team in the world and spend your entire career there? First one was definitely the best. 2 is really good, but I think it's a bit overrated. |

I agree with Ocho. II is a fantastic film and I love it, but I always have liked I just a little more. III is bad and I don't think I can ever watch it more than once. Sofia Coppola just hurts me. It literally hurts to watch her "act" |

The further falling into depravity of Michael Corleone in #2 and how it plays with Vito's rise is masterful.

I like 1 the best, but both are classics, Michael is so cold in 2 it's crazy at the end when he gets all of his enemies. 3 is nothing on the others _________________ Lakers, Chargers, Dodgers, Arsenal FC.

1 was great.
2 was great for a sequel, but not as strong as 1.
3 was great if you like watching train wrecks. |

Godfather II was a better film than Godfather I was, which is rare for a sequel. But like Ocho said, I'm also partial to Godfather I. |
