March 23rd 1933 The Enabling Act passed in Germany. This is the act that gave the German Chancellor the ability to enforce laws with no checks and balances. That Chancellor was Hitler. This directly led to the rise of Nazi Germany creating a dictatorship.

Trump is saying what he will do when he takes office. He’s said it many times.

Believe him.

Project 2025 literally outlines what they plan to do. It’s all right there.

It can happen here. The Supreme Court just made it so it can happen here. Only voting blue up and down the ballot can stop this, however temporarily.

This exemplifies why far too many of those of us on the Left are our own worst enemies. Even if we take everything at face value and Carl Berstein's report that 15-20 days out of the lst year and a half Biden has had an episode similar to that of the debate is accurate (and I'm not disputing that it may be), that means that more than 90% of the time Biden has been the solid, effective, compassionate leader we know him to be. Contrast that to Trump, who is none of those things 100% of the time. Further more, even during those episodes, that occur 10% of the time, he in no way poses the active, intentional, existential threat that Trumps does 100% of the time.

As much as we may dislike it, we currently have two choices moving forward, and only two choices. There is no replacing Biden, even if the Dems could force him out or he if he were to willingly drop out, the replacement wouldn't have time to solidify a platform capable of defeating Trump.

The reality is, Biden, even with his obvious issues, is a more tolerable option moving forward that can be effectively dealt with if he takes office again. He will have people in his administration who will be able to keep him on point and prevent any decisions that may be questionable. And if his cognitive abilities decline to the point that he is no longer capable of being that solid leader he is the vast majority of the time, they can urge him to step down and I have no doubt he would comply. In that event, we have a capable replacement in the wings. Contrast that to Trump, who is clearly an everpresent danger to truth, freedom and democracy at all times and will be surround not by those who can and will keep him in check, but by those who will encourage that threat.

It's a no freaking brainer as to how we should proceed, but because far too may are too foolish and shortsighted, we are on the brink of losing everything about this country that makes it a safe and reasonable place for everyone to live. And all because people allow a media driven by the desire to foment diviision and chaos for ratings to formulate their opinions.

American Historian Alan Lichtman who correctly predicted the outcome of the last 9 of 10 presidential elections * (based on his formula that accounts for incumbency, economy, etc.) was a guest on CNN and pushes back on the anchors obsessing on Biden's debate performance rather than Trump's dangerous deluge of lies - and how they are being complicit in helping Trump and hurting democracy. Here's the video clip:

https://x.com/JillianMHurley/status/1808122878098915725

Don't listen to me. List to the historian who is an actual expert and has a track record for being right.

* The one that he "missed" was Al Gore who won the popular voted only to have his brother in Florida and the Supreme Court hand it to Bush. Barrett, Roberts and Kavanaugh worked on Bush's legal team.

Trump attorney argues ‘fake electors’ scheme was an ‘official act’

An attorney for former President Trump suggested the so-called “fake electors” scheme qualifies as an “official act,” which would prevent it from being prosecuted under the recent Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity.

Trump attorney Will Scharf told CNN Monday night that some acts alleged in the former president’s federal election subversion indictment do constitute private conduct but the effort to put forth slates of alternate electors in 2020 from key battleground states is not one of them.

“We believe the assembly of those alternate slates of electors was an official act of the presidency,” Scharf said, noting the Supreme Court left that question for lower courts to decide.

Pelosi calls Biden concerns 'legitimate question' in debate aftermath

Quote:
Those raising concerns about President Joe Biden's physical abilities following a shaky debate performance are posing a "a legitimate question," former Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday, also noting they should make similar queries about former President Donald Trump.

"I think it's a legitimate question to say, is this an episode or is this a condition?" she said on MSNBC. "When people ask that question, it's completely legitimate — of both candidates."

The former speaker, who enjoys great respect among the Democratic rank-and-file, said she'd not spoken with Biden since the debate but has been in touch with those close to him, so "it's not a question of not having an opportunity to make our concerns known or have some questions answered."

Pelosi said she's hearing "mixed" opinions about whether Biden is up for the grueling fall campaign ahead.

This coming from someone as major as Pelosi is pretty big.

Biden-Harris HQ @BidenHQ

MSNBC: The Biden-Harris campaign had its best fundraising numbers of the cycle in June. They raised $127 million bringing the total amount raised in the second quarter to $264 million. June's haul was the strongest grassroots month to date. More than half of those second quarter funds came from grassroots donors and 95% of donations were under $200

And they raised $38 million of that in the four days directly AFTER THE DEBATE.

POLITICO leans heavily right. I would personally want to see the entire interview for tone and context as I don't trust POLITCO to refrain from spinning the narrative by including some parts of the interview while omitting others. I believe she said those words. I don't believe she is in any way endorsing his dropping out. She is saying she understands people's concerns and they will/should be addressed. But that's not how the headline comes off.

Also from the article:

Quote:
"Some are like, 'Well, how can we subject the [nomination] process to what might be possible? Others are, 'Joe is our guy. We love him. We trust him. He has vision, knowledge, judgment, integrity,'" she said. "I trust his judgment."

Saw this comment elsewhere regarding the idea of Biden dropping out and it is spot on:

“I've seen all kinds of people calling for Biden to step aside. But none of them seem comfortable with Kamala Harris stepping up as the replacement candidate, even though, as the elected vice president, she'd be the natural choice. I don't think these people understand the Democratic Party at all. Their idea seems to be that we'd dump Biden and then bypass the first African American woman elected vice president to pick some unidentified (but almost certainly white) candidate. Have any of these people stopped to ask how Black women might react? You know, the people who are the party's most loyal voters? This idea seems completely untethered from the reality of the party.”

I don’t think Kamala is bringing out the black vote, nor the Asian vote or the women vote. As much as legacies suck, a Michelle Obama-Newsome (or flipped) would energize the base but if Biden stays on the ticket then we support him also, just can’t let Trump win

OK. But the larger point the above addresses is the factor of alienating voters who have cast their vote for Biden in the primaries by ignoring the choice of those who have not abandoned Biden.

It’s difficult to imagine any candidate winning an election when 72% of voters think they’re mentally unfit to serve. Half his own party thinks he’s unfit. He’s down 6 points in the latest CNN poll. We can insist on fealty to this sinking candidate or find an alternative. Those are the (unpleasant) options.

As has been stated, there is no reasonable path to an alternative. People need to get real about what the two options are. One is guaranteed destruction of freedom, democracy and safety, the other is NOT. It’s not a question of fealty, it’s a question of common sense and preserving the country as we know it. It baffles me that people can’t grasp such a simple and obvious fact and they need to quit screwing around and wake the (bleep) up.

This is how the court sees itself, as the “high council” that will decide any and all issues of executive power, where liberal regulation and protection of rights will be ruled unconstitutional, and right wing executive overreach will be called immune. And they’ve already demonstrated that they are not even trying to hide the double standard or the fact that they aren’t ruling on any logical or legal or precedent basis (see the sec ruling). The only problem for them is that once they usher the right wing dictator into being, he and his successors are going to have no need or want for their services anymore. And certainly no desire to listen to their opinions.

I don’t think he should drop out. But Dem leadership better get everyone on the same page, because the knives are starting to come out.

Pelosi also said Biden needs to do one or two unscripted interviews with journalists without teleprompters to put people’s minds at ease. Not a bad idea, they can’t wait for the next debate.

Pelosi isn't apt to drop casual comments. My guess is that there's a power play behind proverbial closed doors, involving party leadership and powerful donors. Given what Clyburn stated, I think he's pushing for Biden to undergo cognitive testing, and if he passes with flying colors they publish the results. If the testing concludes impairment, they'll push for Biden to withdraw. That's only if Biden accepts testing as a compromise. The pressure is mounting and they're all on the clock for a decision.

More reasons to be skeptical of anti-Biden MSM reports. A couple of these were from NBC and CNN reporters. They want chaos, they want a divided convention, they want a new untested candidate to tear down, all for ratings and clicks.

LIE 2—DNC moved nomination in response to debate (was planned since May due to Ohio issue)

LIE 3—Biden didn’t speak to any Govs post-debate (he did) (This was a Jake Tapper viral tweet that was a lie, he subsequently deleted and pretended like it never happened.

CNN Poll: Most voters think Democrats have a better chance of keeping White House if Biden isn’t the nominee

Quote:
Among all registered voters, 31% either say they could change their minds between now and Election Day or do not support a specific candidate. The almost 7 in 10 voters who have made up their minds break heavily for Trump – 53% to 45%. In order to overtake Trump, Biden would have to bring a significant share of these movable voters to his side, though they currently split 39% for Trump to 37% for Biden in a two-way matchup; 8% say they’d back someone else and 14% that they don’t plan to vote.

Quote:
Several other Democrats have been mentioned as potential Biden replacements in recent days, and each trails Trump among registered voters, with their levels of support similar to Biden’s, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom (48% Trump to 43% Newsom), Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg (47% Trump to 43% Buttigieg), and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (47% Trump to 42% Whitmer).

I'm thinking all the other potential's really have an advantage as the right wing machine has not had enough time to formulate all their lies quite yet.

THERE ISN'T ENOUGH TIME OR MONEY TO GET ANOTHER CAMPAIGN UP AND RUNNING, GET THEM ON BALLOT IN EVERY STATE EVEN IF THERE WAS A CONSENUS CANDIDATE AT THE DNC CONVENTION, WHICH IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE.

Americans are clueless. Why does the press keep asking them questions they are completely unequipped to answer intelligently?

If someone called me up and asked who I'd rather have for a boyfriend, Chris Hemsworth or Chris Evans, I could give them an answer. BUT IT WOULD MEANINGLESS TO THE QUESTION OF WHETHER THAT COULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN!!!

I'm am so sick of the media pushing their preferred narrative.
