In light of the Buffalo shooting by an 18-year old white supremacist who was radicalized by Fox News and the current GOP, I'll be posting some examples. What was once a fringe element on the right (Charlottesville march - "Jews will not replace us" and Trump's "fine people on both sides" which was a huge political scandal at the time) is now part of main stream Republicanism.

Quote:
Judd Legum @JuddLegum

@tuckercarlson 's embrace of replacement theory — the racist conspiracy that motivated the Buffalo shooter — is well documented

But the theory that the left is seeking to "replace" whites has been adopted broadly on the right

This 🧵 names names

1. The right's embrace of a deadly racist conspiracy theory The "great replacement theory" can be traced back at least to Theodore G. Bilbo (D-MS), the brazenly racist U.S. Senator who held office from 1935 to 1947. Bilbo, an antisemite who acknowledged being...

2. @SenRonJohnson suggested that Biden was pursuing "open borders" as part of a strategy to "remake the demographics of America to ensure that they stay in power forever."

3. Senate candidate @JDVance1 said Democrats want to let in 15 million immigrants to "shift...the democratic makeup of this country" so that "Republicans would never win a national election in this country ever again"

4. Arizona U.S. Senate candidate @bgmasters has promoted replacement theory numerous times including immediately AFTER the Buffalo mass shooting

5. @RepStefanik, a member of the GOP House leadership, ran Facebook ads claiming Biden and Pelosi were plotting to "flood our voter roles [sic] with 11 MILLION NEW VOTERS by giving illegal immigrants amnesty."

6. During a committee hearing on immigration, @RepScottPerry
said the country is "replacing national-born Americans, native-born Americans to permanently transform the landscape of this very nation"

7. Congressman @mattgaetz said Tucker Carlson was correct on replacement theory and Carlson's critics were racist

8. Texas Lt. Gov @DanPatrick said the "revolution has begun" and Democrats are "trying to take over our country without firing a shot" by letting in immigrants who will vote for Democrats to "thank the Democrats and Biden for bringing them here"

9 Fox News' @IngrahamAngle said Democrats "want to replace you, the American voters, with newly amnestied citizens and an ever increasing number of chain migrants"

10. Fox News' @JudgeJeanine said Democrats were involved in "a plot to remake America—to replace American citizens with illegals who will vote for the Democrats."

11. @realDailyWire host @MattWalshBlog said liberals are "celebrating the reduction in the white population" and "want to replace white people"

12. Former Trump advisor and right-wing operative Steve Bannon was at the vanguard of replacement theory, repeatedly endorsing The Camp of Saints, the racist French novel that popularized the conspiracy

13. Former Trump advisor Stephen Miller also pushed replacement theory, successfully encouraging Breitbart to promote The Camp of Saints

Quote:
The racist 'replacement theory' has it all backward

Far right White supremacist groups, conservative media personalities and now Republicans in Congress are trying to inflame nativist feelings among conservative Whites by warning that liberals want immigrants to "replace" native-born Americans in the nation's culture and electorate.

But that racist "replacement theory" inverts the real consequence of immigration for its target audience of Whites uneasy about social and racial change: Many of the Whites most drawn to the far-right argument that new arrivals are displacing "real Americans" are among those with the most to lose if the nation reduces, much less eliminates, immigration in the decades ahead.

With or without immigration, the White share of the population will decline in the coming decades, census projections show. But if immigration is reduced or eliminated, America will grow older, with many fewer working-age adults available to support an exploding number of retirees. And that would not only slow overall economic growth, multiple projections have found, but also would increase pressure for cuts in the Social Security and Medicare benefits that provide a lifeline to the older Whites most drawn to the right's anti-immigrant arguments.

[snip]

"Replacement theory," sometimes called the "great replacement," gestated in the swampy waters of far-right White supremacist groups. But in the Donald Trump era it has migrated closer to the GOP mainstream. Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson, who often spreads xenophobic arguments, has ardently embraced the charge that Democrats are "trying to replace the current electorate -- the voters now casting ballots -- with new people, more obedient voters from the Third World." Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, both Republicans, have echoed him in recent public statements. The far-right Republican House members, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, who floated plans for a Trump-like "America First Caucus" before scrapping them, declared in a recruiting document disclosed last week by the Punchbowl website that large-scale immigration threatens "the long-term existential future of America as a unique country with a unique culture and a unique identity."

I don't agree with 99% of Cheney's policies, but so far she is the ONLY Republican who has called out other Republicans for their part in white supremacist terrorism and murder.

Quote:
Liz Cheney @Liz_Cheney

The House GOP leadership has enabled white nationalism, white supremacy, and anti-semitism. History has taught us that what begins with words ends in far worse. @GOP leaders must renounce and reject these views and those who hold them.

And by the way, the extremist right-wing religious zealots on the Supreme Court want to overturn Roe v Wade for many reasons. And one of them has to do with "white replacement theory." They want more white babies added to the "domestic supply of infants" to expand the white population.

She posted these lies TODAY! Dead victims aren't even buried yet and she's inciting more of the same.

Elise Stefanik @EliseStefanik

Democrats desperately want wide open borders and mass amnesty for illegals allowing them to vote.

Like the vast majority of Americans, Republicans want to secure our borders and protect election integrity.

She thinks this will help make her next Speaker of the House if R's recapture House.

THEY ARE ALL BAD.

(Republicans Are Unprepared For Coming Backlash To Overturning Roe Vs Wade)

Quote:
Republicans are the dog who finally caught the car. Now that Roe v Wade's overturning by the SCOTUS is imminent, they are flummoxed as to what to do next. Some are even going as far to say abortion will not be banned nationwide, despite that being the primary issue that has motivated their base for 50 years.

The *real* victims of the Buffalo shooting according to Tucker Carlson, are his audience full of white people who are being punished for expressing their political views out loud. Presumably views like racism, bigotry and misogyny. They are free to express those views but they are not free from being criticized for those views. And that's why they hate liberals.

Quote:
Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom

@TuckerCarlson telling his audience that THEY are the victims. Not the ten innocent souls killed in Buffalo. Nope, Tucker’s audience are the real victims here.

Quote:
Acyn @Acyn

Tucker: Because a mentally ill teenager murdered strangers, you cannot be allowed to express your political views out loud. That’s what they’re telling you

Here’s some good news:

The Senate *finally* confirmed President Biden’s two picks for the Postal Service Board of Governors.

But here’s the even better news:

They can finally fire Trump’s Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy. And roll back his most dangerous cuts.

Here is a good question to ask people who believe in replacement theory:

If you’re scared of being in the minority, why is that? Are you saying minorities are so badly treated you’d rather be anything but that?
