The Showtime Lakers should buy the Celtics and dismantle them. You think that would trigger an antitrust case?

i wish Guggenheim buys the Celtics and give 51% of the ownership to the Buss family for free, and let them run the Celtic franchise the same why they're doing it now. in turn, Buss family gives up majority ownership of Lakers.

Stein:

The Lakers continue to press in their pursuit of Klay Thompson, league sources say, trying to close a perceived gap on the Mavericks. As @TheSteinLine reported below Friday, strong mutual interest between Thompson and Dallas has already been established:

To me the last 3 years are significant between Klay and DDR. Klay is a year younger but 3 surgeries. He's averaged 20 ppg shooting 43% FG 39.5% from 3. DDR has averaged 25 ppg, 50% FG and 33% from 3. If you just want 3 point shooting you take Klay...but overall play it's DDR, who's more efficient as a scorer and shot maker. It's really what you think we need most. I like DDR, but I'm not hating on Klay however a 4 year deal for either is a massive mistake that will handicap us IMO.

It's called sell high.... from an owners perspective, it's not the best time for Lakers ownership to sell

Sadly. If you took a fan poll it would be near unanimous that we'd want them to sell. I say near because we still have some lurking Clips fans even after PG left.

DeMar DeRozan will leave the Chicago Bulls this offseason with a source telling the Chicago Sun-Times that their trade of Alex Caruso for Josh Giddey was "the final star" for his departure. At one point, DeRozan was expected to re-sign with the Bulls but they pivoted toward a youth movement.

You would have to think that one of the LA teams probably has a decent shot.

Damn. Caruso trade was the final straw.

Rob when DDR complains to him about the Bulls FO giving away Caruso

The Lakers are such a big brand I don't think how good they are on the court has much affect on their value if any

As I said earlier, Boston takes 11 more threes per game than we do and everyone on that team can shoot them with efficiency.

You don't close that gap with DeRozan, even though he's a perfectly fine player.

Almost all the team that have won titles recently are good 3 point shooting teams. Meanwhile DeRozan barely even makes the playoffs.

You add Knecht and Klay and we can shoot threes with anyone.

The biggest problem for me is dumping DLo for Klay isn't a net gain.

You lose playmaking and an extra three point shooter, for maybe a better clutch playoff performer.

If we add Klay and keep DLo, you have a team that shoot threes with any team.

When you add DeRozan you add a slightly more complete player but we are still always in a three point deficit because we are getting two pointers instead of threes that you'd get with the other players.

It will be interesting to see what Rob gives up to get this done.

Klay clearly wants to be a Laker or he would have chosen Dallas by now.

It's just whether Rob can find him some money without crippling the team by giving up too much.

I think so. Utah seems like a trade partner for us. Can trade a salary into their cap space for Kessler and a pick. Also have the option to remove the protections on the 27 pick.

No one is a bigger fan of dd than me but we don’t want him. We don’t need anyone over 30, and preferably much younger. Pelinka said player development is the way. Give bron his bag, sign youngsters and let jj learn how to coach.

I’m starting to warm up to DeRozan in a big way, and if we can get a nice starting C as a follow up move I would be jumping for joy

Get Bridges (or Johnson) and Vuc. Why would we want to off assets to get Klay? Klay is good for the MLE and no assets.

hate to tell you but Vuc is locked up in a new deal with the Wizards. 3yr/30M.

My assumption is Lakers didn't reach out to him for whatever reason. Hard to believe he'd to to the wizards if any other team, let alone the Lakers, reached out.

Would be a solid move to add him and free up space to sign Klay
